Yes we're aware the servers are down.

We have just taken the Prydwen/Excalibur cluster down for technical reasons.

After the router hickup earlier this evening we're now experiencing some other problems which we want to investigate before we'll bring the servers back up.

Keep an eye on http://daoc.goa.com/en for updates.

Ok a tad more info:

Because of the problems we had a couple of months ago with Prydwen we're simply not taking any risks which is why the cluster is down atm.

We have found NO proof yet that the thing that happened to Prydwen is happening again but before we're absolutely sure of this we're not bringing the cluster back up.

I'm afraid I can't give you an ETA on this at all but it won't be up within the next 10 minutes that's for sure.

We apologize sincerely for the inconvenience and trust me, we hate this situation just as much as you guys.

Just to clear up a little confusion. The problems we are looking into now are entirely unrelated to the problems earlier. The router problems were resolved by the technical teams at our host this afternoon. The cluster crash and the subsequent problems are server related and not network related.

Short update. We're going to test the servers in a few minutes to see if the fixes we've done so far have solved the problems. If the tests go well we'll be reopening the servers afterwards. We appreciate your patience while we sort this problem out.

We have just finished tests on the cluster and it appears that the problem has not been solved as we hoped. We are therefore sorry to tell you that the cluster will not be reopened tonight. We wil of course continue to work on this problem and will give you more information as we have it.

Apologies once more for the inconvenience and we will do everything we can to minimise the disruption.

News here.

News from the official site:

[Update : 16/11/2005 11 :00am] We were able to ascertain the cause of the problem which occurred on the English cluster last night. The process that controls all the characters in the game crashed at 21 :08 yesterday evening and this means that between that time and when the server was finally closed at approximately 22 :20 - all character progress will not have been saved. These crashes also caused a problem in the player guild files which led to incorrect data being displayed for guilds in game.

At this time we are planning on restoring the guilds to their state at 6am yesterday and nothing more. Aside from the loss of anything you may have done between 21 :08 and the cluster coming down, there should not be any rollback of characters. This problem is in no way similar to the problems encountered on Prydwen two months ago.

Once we have performed our network and server tests and based on the results, we will be able to provide you an ETA for the cluster being reopened.

Again we apologise for the inconvenience this has caused you and thank you for your continued understanding.

Update:

The cluster is open again. There has been a rollback of the guild database to yesterday morning 6 o clock. And character data wasn't saved after 21:08 cet so any progress made after that is lost - approximately 22 minutes of play time before the server was closed to players at 21:30.

This means that any guild-realmpoints, -bountypoints, -meritpoints and money in the guildbank earned between 6 yesterday morning and about 9 last night are lost. We are very sorry, but we will not be able to restore any of this.

Once again I'd like to state that the problem yesterday had nothing to do with the problems we experienced on Prydwen recently.

I'd like to apologise for the interuption in our service and thank you for your continued understanding. We will be granting one day of free subs as a goodwill gesture.
