He's a minor celebrity because he killed and ate a foreigner. Can you imagine the outcry over here if murderers were given guest-speaker spots at lunches? The Japanese are very very xenophobic. And not just in Japan. There's a restaurant near us that has two sets of menu's - one for the Jap customers and one for everyone else. It's exactly the same by a mates who lives dahn sarth.

It's obviously that if you eat someone you are a racist if you don't eat them or get abit bitey then obviously you are in no way racist.

Old news. Japanese and Chinese are very racist/xenophobic, lived in both countries for around 6 months each and seen it first hand. Whilst the Japanese hide it slighly better the Chinese are quite open about it using language like hakgwei and seigweilo (black ghost and damned/dead ghost). It was very prevalent in Hong Kong and China (Ghangzhou, Beijing and Shanghai).

Brit friend at work is married to a Japanese girl and she was ostracised by a large part of her family. Something they have to live with.

If you read the page, things have gone downhill for him, he has trouble finding work, when the potential employer finds he has a taste for human flesh, but he very fact they had him on TV as a celebrity kinda sums up Japan's attitude to the rest of the human race.
