it still shocks me that somehow my hand writing has not altered at all since i was about 9 years old. if i compare hand writing from now to back then its exactly the same!
i dont know why but i cannot seem to improve it and find it very difficult to write 'neat' at all. even if i slow right down its still the same.

would i need some kind of professional help to correct this or could i possibly teach my self?

Its going to be a case of practice over and over again.

Think back to when you were younger and learning how to write letters, and it's basicly going to be something like that. Pick a style that you like and copy it over and over untill you get it spot on without looking.

(atleast thats how I changed my style)

I also find writing with a nice pen works (I use a fountain pen most of the time these days).

Learn gothic letters, hellacool to write your name like that :D

And what Mey said, it's like learning to write again. It took a year or so for you to learn it before, don't rush it.

Just type AAAAAAAx1000 and then BBBBBBBBx1000 and it becomes second nature.

All finnish students learn the...umm...well where you use just one line to write...

But can't be arsed to use it :D

/Agreed. I took a creative writing course last year, and thats the advice they give.

You can find some books with "practice sets", pre written lines in various styles with blank lines underneath, that you photocopy and practice with to get used to writing with all the damn curls and flair. Also note, that depending at what angle you hold pen to paper does affect how you right too.

In the end its all practice and experimentation. In the end though, its all about how comfortable you are with your writing (and if you can read it afterwards).

Cursive it's called i think, and your hand writing can't be worse than mine, it's basically a hybrid between cursive and stick letters. Bonus comes from it being cyphered since nobody else can read it :p

@ Tohtori - Yeah I've seen that and hate it. Just looks pompous :p

@ Tris - If you write too slow, your movement will not be fluid thus it will be messy. You need to write a little bit slower than normal, that way you will have more control.

I know it's embarrasing, but do you have a picture of something you have written?

Haha, I have this issue sometimes. I really have to focus to get my writing neat tbh. I wrote an essay a few years back (like.. 8 pages) and after the 3rd/4th page my hands gave in... Went from neat to barely readable in 2.4 seconds XD

Aye, my writing is sticks on sticks, but learning gothic just "to piss people off".

Heh yeah, we learn it but don't use it 'cause it's too swede :D

i have pretty bad writing but have managed to make it legible :D

i found joined up writing makes it harder to read rather than easier (despite being taught it endlessly in school i eventually gave up and pissed off many a teacher by switching to my own style :p )

im exactly the same m8 my handwriting is atrocious you left handed at all btw? seems to be a common flaw for us lefties

i can write neat if i really concentrate on it but its slow going and still doesnt look as fluid as average joe etc which then pisses me off and i abandon it.

dude your handwriting is fine, dont know what your worried about its always readable, however B2 says writing with a fountain pen is a good way to improve your hand writing as it stops you pressing too hard and scribbling or it splodges everywhere.

my boss has the worst handwriting ever and she complains about me! says me E's either look like O's or 5's depending on what mood im in :(

Its just like sticking your finger inside a cow's bottom and then complaining that your finger smells.

I think you'd get the same results by putting your finger in anythings arse!
