Important - Motherboard Wanted

I'm after a certain Abit motherboard which is proving very hard to come by.

Hopefully with all you people in heres knowledge I should be able to find one.

I want an Abit KT7A RAID , version 1.3 (that takes the XP chips)

I have an Abit kt7a v1.3 board, but I REALLY need the raid version. For those that want to know why, its because I currently use a pci raid controller that does not work under linux and I need an extra controller on the board that is compatible. Also with this board it means I dont have to upgrade my ram. Which is nice.

If anyone knows where I could purchase on of these lovely boards I would be more than greatful, remember, KT7A RAID v1.3.

Thanks very much guys.

Just as an update I feel i should say I've rung dabs, overclockers UK etc... they dont have them anymore.

What im banking on is some small computer shop might have got one in on the off chance, or some not so well known store might have the odd one left.

Cmon guys someone must know of a place that has one of these boards :D I'll pay the price I just want it.

Thanks!

It says

Abit KT7A Raid 266 FSB Bare Board

It doesnt mention what revision it is, only the 1.3 will accept XP chips you see, thats really important in this case.

Also there are loads on ebay? Ebay in the uk or ebay in america? Im not importing a bloody motherboard and I cant see any v1.3 ones on ebay uk. Maybe im not looking hard enough! /me tries agian.

Cheers for at least looking mate, i'll give them a ring to see if its the v1.3 or not.

*edit

Called them up, crappest phone line ever ive heard in my life...
anyway, they dont stock it anymore to get to the point, and when i asked if it was the v1.3 the bloke said no because that was one of the "first revisions" which is clearly incorrect. Then he muttered something about not being able to put XP chips on boards with PC 133 ram anyway... i hung up.

:/

Sorry about Trust, I have never used them really. One group I do regularly use is http://www.vgicomputers.com and they do seem fairly competant, although they do not have the KT7A listed, you can give them a ring and they may be able to help or suggest something.

I briefly saw a couple of KT7A-RAID on eBay.co.uk, you can always send the seller a message about the revision number.

What about an Abit KX7-333 RAID Socket A motherboard? Takes XP chips up to 2100...

Or maybe the KR7A-RAID.

(Alternatively, just buy a new Promise or Highpoint RAID controller, which should have good Linux support...)

I tried the links you pasted Lazarus, two of them dont have the board, and the one that does have the board doesnt have the version number listed. I've tried ringing them for ages now and they've not picked up yet... maybe they are on lunch.

Argh someone must sell this bloody board. Not giving up yet, i refuse to believe that nowhere in england / UK has them.

Keep searching ppl thx! :D

callous: I think his point is he is too stingy to lay out cash for new RAM :)

I think WPKenny has this motherboard (v1.3). Maybe he'd be willing to sell it or swap for a replacement?

If WPKenny has a KT7A RAID v1.3 Summo perhaps he could tell me where he purchased it from? :)

Thanks again

If I'm right then he bought one when they were the Don Dadda and available from Scan, Dabs and so on. It's not a recent purchase.

I myself have a pre-1.3 version otherwise I'd sort you out. Sorry.

Someone mention me?

Unfortunately for you Dimebag, I've got the Non-RAID version.

Tis a nice board though and I'm eying up a AthlonXP 2000+ for it right now. just over 100 quid.

I got it from Overclockers.co.uk but you mentione you already tried them. I've had it a while.

Ive only found 1 reported incident on the whole web of someone actually bloody owning this damn board....

I know it exists, its on the abit site, it would solve all my probs of an onboard raid controller and taking the XP chips.

Im going to get a KT7A RAID if its 1.3 or 1.1 but it would mean dropping back to my 1.2 ghz chip from my XP 2000 + :/

Surely someone must have heard or sells this damn board, its like gold dust. I'm not crossing my fingers anymore though...

Anyone got any ideas / advice?
Maybe I'll ring abit in taiwan :D

Nobody sells it anymore because nobody makes it anymore. Probably your only chance of getting one is second hand through ebay or equivalent.

This takes XP Proccys too :)..I have one.

Why are you so adamant about that particular mobo?

//edit

A brand new board for cheap eh?
Sounds good, how cheap is cheap?

If I could get a fairly cheap board I could probs afford the new ram. :D

Private message me or something.

Of course when he says "cheap" he doesn't mean a tenner ;)

Yuckfou, I'm interested in your board.

How cheap is cheap? Also you say its brand new, working properly?

I know its about 110 quid new, would you take 50? 60?

Obviously I dont want to put prices into your mouth though so gimmie a shout.

Gimmie a shout at dimebag@barrysworld.com as I have just found out you dont "do" private messages.

Thanks a lot.
