Image Editing

Anyone recommend a reasonable or okish free image editing suite.

All I want to do is take images from games and turn them into a good wallpaper with funky fonts and or image enhancing.

Any advice etc is muchly appreciated.

or just plain www.gimp.org if you got linux running

Its fee but might be a bit of overkill for what you want.

p.s. i know the linux version works like a charm i cant garentee the windows version is stable

The windows version is stable (At least i've never had it crash) for simple stuff i use a program called "MGI Photosuite 8.05" which came with my scanner. Its got a few effects and stuff, for simple things its great. No idea if its free though (Or even if it still exists, i got my scanner in 1998, lol)
