Honestly. Without wanting to be a killjoy (not that I can help it):

Looks like more soft porn. :(

By porn I mean violence as well as sex. It doesn't fill me with hope for a truly great story - 'cause to fit the correct quota of sex and violence in every episode they'll have to compromise too much.

I'm no prude, but I wish TV wasn't so thick and shit nowadays. :|

This will almost certainly be nothing like Rome. I think it borrows heavily from the style of 300.

I'll be watching it anyway, I love history (even though I doubt this will be historically accurate, Gladiators were expensive things to train, you didn't go around killing them).

Rome was sex and violence and here and there awesome acting with some great bits of scripting, "Its only hubris if I'm wrong."

Oddly enough, the real actual original Rome, the one that really was... was sex, violence and a lot of acting, if the history books are to be believed. Offtopic but... Rome (TV series) it seems enjoyed a degree of accuracy not enjyoyed by things like The Tudors where the script writers crazily confused many of the key players in that period of history (meh, actually they didn't confuse anything they just didn't care).

I won't pre-judge Sparticus but it looks interesting and worth keeping an eye out for.

UN-fortunately... I can't help but keep thinking of Lee Evans talking about if we got our own back at marketing companies by having our own script when we answered, "I! ... am Sparticus" :D
