...Any good single player shoot 'em ups. After enjoying Farcry I realized I've missed out on the entire genre for nearly 3 years due to mmorpg's (evil!).
I've played Halo to death on X-box so thats out of the question (I heard the pc version sucked anyway)
Which FPS should I look out for? I liked Farcry, Red Faction, Serious Sam etc. :)

Thank you please.

Call of Duty single player is nice and pretty challenging on the harder settings.

Serious Sam - good fun
Red Faction - good fun
Call of Duty - above Par

Theres a few mate depends what your after in a FPS, me being a FPS shooter addict I play them all..:D But it all rests on what your after.. wether its a Ghost Recon type of experience very involved, or a Serious Sam I & II just a great shoot em up...

Opinions differ too I still like and play Gore Universal Soldier and a few obscure others but some will tell you they are pants :D

As for new stuff if you want a great shoot em up go for Painkiller but if you want something a little more involved Far Cry or Call of Duty would seem a sensible route. Again mate just my opinion, others may have a different story :D

That aside I'm sure HL2 won't fail to please... but who knows eh ;)

Must say that imho so far almost every FPS is very sub par to Far Cry. Chrome, RF, SS are all good fun but not even close to FC.

edit : Painkiller is just out, but its just like Serious Sam in many ways.Otherwise its relaxing Gothic FPS :) I personally am waiting for Manhunt

In my honest opinion, Operation Flashpoint is the only single player game worth more than a second glance.
You can buy it cheap now. Give it a go, its great :)

I havn't played Far Cry but from what I read and heard it is a mighty game.. (adds to wanted list)

I would watch STALKER: Shadow of Chernobyl too with a close eye, this I feel is going to be a goodun, looks really cool so far with a great story. Besides there is more to life than HL2 & D3, although saying that these games should be above par being born from the coding houses they come from.. :D

If you haven't tried Max Payne 1 & 2 try both of them.

Max Payne 1+2 are both far too short, although excellent blasts.

There have not been many "GOOD" fps games recently.
Certainly not many games that can challenge a good player.

I've completed Red Faction 1 and 2, Serious Sam 1 and 2, and FarCry. I loved them all but its never the same second time round. :)
I never liked any of the Half Lifes..thought they were a bit overrated personally. Is Painkiller out in shops? I've played Max Payne, didn't really appeal to me that much, although my brother loved it.

Operation Flashpoint I loved, had a stage where I was so addicted to it. :) I gave up in the end due to the frustration of trying to steer the helicopter. :p
I'm not interested in multiplayer. I just want a great single player game like FarCry. I wish I didn't complete it so fast. :(

That Chernobyl game looks great. When is the release date?
I could buy Call of Duty, but I heard its really short? I prefer to buy games than download but I'd rather not bother if its only going to last a day.

If you liked Serious Sam, I would definitely recommend Painkiller - think Serious Sam, then add in gorgeous graphics and just about the most impressively grisly use of a physics engine to date, and you've got it :)

I have that on the PS2, tbh its the only game I found a little disturbing. I dunno call me a hypocrite because gratuitous violence is gratuitous violence within a game end of the day, but MH leans towards the perverse almost, just a little too near the mark.

I don't know there was just something about Manhunt that was just well... nasty..

Maybe I'm getting too old ;)

Painkiller though is good, violent yeah... but in the right way (if there is one :p )

Bollocks, went to the shops in a hurry without checking Painkillers release date. Dressed and cleaned for nothing. :(

I'll hold on until the end of the week for it.

I bought Painkiller, great fun! :D
Think Serious Sam with great graphics, really fucked up enemies and a gothic feel.
