I'm an Ubber Gimp 2H Paladin.....What should I do...

Hi,

I'm a lvl 47 (almost 48) 2H Pala

<Waits 5 minutes until the laughing stops>

I was going to respec, but I did not notice the 2 lvl limit in which to do it.

I appealed for a respec in the argument that the 2 lvl limit was not mentioned clearly in the notes, but mythic has said that they CANNOT grant respecs ?

Not that they WILL NOT, they CANNOT....

Is this ture, has anyone every been given a respec on our server.

So basically, I stuck with it until hopefully I somehow obtain a respec in a later patch, by way of Dragon Raid etc.

Although it may be quicker to start again, and the chances of getting hold of a respec gem are about the same as winning the lottery.

I can't solo in RvR, I'm totally owned in Duels by players 4 lvls below me ( I got spanked by a S&S lvl 43 Pala).

I cant solo yellow con mobs ok, and fair ok while in groups, as I can always take aggro off the S&S tanks if I need to.

But what I need some is some help/advice on is what to spend my remaining points in.

I'm currently specced

44 2h
43 Chants
31 Slash
17 Parry

I'm going to get another 438 (maybe 441 in total) between now and lvl 50 to spend, in view that I hope to respec the 2H Skill, where do u reckon I should invest the remaining points ?

The options are to:-

1) Take chants to 48 and rest into slash
2) Take Chants to 46 and rest into Shield
3) Take Chants to 48 and rest into Shield
4) Take Chants to 46 and rest into slash
5) Take Chants to 46 and not spend them :)

With all of the above, if I ever get a respec then I can respec 2H and end up with :

39 Slash
42 Shield
46 or 48 Chants
Rest in Parry

Some sensible input would be appreciated please.

Thanks

Hi mate,

A lot of people say 2 handed pallys are gimps because the damage output of your weapon isnt as high as a polearm and you have less HP. Remember though that you are more of a support class than a pure 'tank'. Sword and shield is great for 1 vs 1 there is no argument there, 2 handed is slow and leaves you with very little defence. However in RvR 1 vs 1 is extremely rare and you have to kill the ugly mids and the tree hugging bitches as quick as you can :) before you get killed yourself. Ideally in order to do this it would be better to have a polearm armsman. I created a 2 handed paladin because I like to be able to help my team mates and work as a team, rezzing the dead, healing my group, armor chant, battle chant, endurance chant, resist chants etc and also do quite nice damage. When duels were coming I knew I would do poorly 1 vs 1 because of what I have just said but that does not make you a 'gimp'.

After saying all that though I have killed many mercenarys, a few friars (tough buggers evading all the time :) ) even a few sword and shield paladins (just lucky that I got my chain in), and some minstrels. So to my surprise I was better at 1 vs 1 then I thought which was nice :)

Remember mate that when level 50 if you get 2 handed to 50 you get a 3 style chain, bone bruiser, bone breaker (nice damage with stun), Sun and Moon (nice damage with bleeding).

Sword and shield pallys are very good but its what you enjoy playing.

Anyway good luck to you.

ermmm actually there arent anything really wrong with 2handed pallys.

I dueled Jamza and he used a 2hander and got 5 points in 2handed.
should have seen my 15% life and his 95% =)
he kind of owned me but I played my engage well and managed to win in the end after like 10 min =)

but he could have killed me. 2handed inst that bad.

Thanks for some sensible input :)

A couple of comments I would make are that:-

I do enjoy my character, but there are some aspects that on him that I am very disappointed about.

One of these is the amount I parry in RvR, and in duels, its virtually non existant ! I know my parry is only 17+6 = 23, but parry so far seems pretty useless at the moment.

The 2nd aspect is the short stun on the Bone Bruiser/Breaker chain. When I hit a Mob I get a message saying the mob Cannot Move etc. But when I use it in RvR, for some reason I do not get this message when the style is successfull, and hence does not seem to stun at my enemy at all.

Unless I hear otherwise I think I will spend the remaining points in to 2H to take it to 50, and chants to 46.

Thanks
Diddy

im speced 50 towhanded,46chants,7sheild,rest in parry.

and the level 50 style isnt worth getting, its part of a 3 style chain and you will rarely get it off without being blocked, missed, evaded. just use doubler style and endrance chant.

You're mistaking lack of solo ability for being gimped. Paladins are not a solo class, they are a group support class. Measure yourself on that yardstick, not on how wel you do in duels vs Armsmen or soloing mobs. If you are a useful member of a similar levelled group then you are not gimped IMHO.

I'm an Avalonian S+S Paladin and I put ten of my initial points into Charisma because I didn't read the guides before rolling the character. I still don't consider myself gimped as I can support a group as well as anyone else at my level (38).

Dude, are you still wearing yellow/black armour?
That awfull look is the only thing gimping you!

Don't spec shields, stick with 2h/chants/slash/parry for now.
Your parrying will increase in RvR once you're lv50.

Don't be uber, be different(but change your colours... no need to be that different!) :p

as long as you spec chants to 48 there's absolutely nothing wrong with your weapon of choice ;o

Nothing can be wrong here... just proving it will be the toughest challange of all <no cookycutters already proven here...> .. and question is, do u have to?

I agree that being different is ok, and that it'd be too bad if everyone had the same template.

I wanted my paladin to be a bodyguard (lvl 48 ATM)
I plan to have 50 shield / 45 chants
( i have 65 bonus points thx to autotrain)

What do you think is best ?
37 slash / 7 parry
or
33 slash / 18 parry
?
