Any good? What's the High-Definition pack like?

the single player missions are ok but only took me 3 hrs to complete on hard :\ The high definition pack kicks utter arse though

Biggest problem I have is telling my team apart from the enemy. Still. I spend a second trying to work out what I'm looking at by which time the bugger's shot me.

I guess it comes with practice...

Also, considering the age, popularity and number of updates this game's received it's still pretty ropey, imo. It doesn't like ALT+TABbing to the desktop and 1 time out of 10 causes my PC to lock up.

lol alt-tabbing?

You need a few things to do that.

Desktop res and CS res and colour depth to be the same.

Latest Det drivers (well 6.50 onwards, but only the WHQL ones let me alt+tab).

YOu also need to experiment with drivers untill you can alt+tab without losing sound.

I have only managed this with win2k, doesnt work on 98.

On 2k I can alt+tab, back and forth perfectly with no loss of sounds of gfx distortion. However you shouldnt need to, shouldnt be doing other things while playing cs

Do yourself a favour Mr. Network guru, set yourself up a second machine for ICQ, irc and other things, alt_tabbing wil claim you.


Oh yeah if you lose sound while alt+tabbing, u must press escape then resume game. HOWEVER! THat only works if you used gamespy or ASE to launch the game, if u used ingame CS browser you must leave the server and escape to the main menu to regain sound.

you think the CS models are confusing?

i used to play AHL with lots of custom models, but i had my favourite models as several of the normal ones. the end result was that on certain maps, and certain servers both teams would be using the same model.

i'd have to spend the entire map using the ident to decide wether they were an enemy. and due to the nature of AHL, where FF is on, and people tend to shoot their team mates rather alot, it was very hard, especially because the name ident turns red if you shoot one of your friends...
