If you had little time/money, what class would you make?

Im trying to figure out what class a friend who is comming back to the game should make, he says he wont have massive ammounts of time, and isnt planning on being very competive in RvR, but still would like to be advance fast enough through the PvE part.

I said a necro, but he doesnt want that, or an animist. So I was thinking maybe a Vampiir? Would mean he doesnt need a bot and could level in Catacombs nicely solo.

But I have no idea on how dificult it would be to suit out a Vampiir, tho I suppose they wear leather so not too expensive.

Any input?

I returned last week, and started a vampiir on hib/excal

So far im really enjoying the class, got from 0-24 within a few days and now anoying people in Thid. Theve lots of abilaties and your qbar becomes full quick plenty of buttons to push and the fact you are permenantly buffed really helps and avoids the need to buy a BB

To be honest tho it depends where your friend wants to play and what class, most of them can do the cata instances from what ive seen (started a bard/chanter/druid/vampiir)

Cant speak for mid, but if i was going alb, it would be a Paladin or Theurgist :)

Minstrel - speed for doing only "kill named" tasks in task dungeon, stealth for finding the named one and charm for artifacts. Getting MAs may take time but same goes for Vampiir.

Would most likely be a stealther.
Would enjoy a turn at being top of the food chain for a bit.
Nah wait a sec...
Cant be bothered to play a tossor class...
I'd make an Ice Wiz ..... just so I can show off in Avalon City :p

if he's limited on time he'll probably be soloing a lot..

heretic or friar would work for albion (since he doesn't want a necro)

Sorcerer, not much equipment needed (just a good focus staff wil do ;)) and advances very fast in PVE if you charm the right mob and you will be great in RvR either ;)

Friar if in Albion. Doesn't need a bb, plenty of abilities, still very stlong 1v1 (obviously dependent on opponents class) and rvr group friendly. Downside? You gotta be a Briton :(

bainshees aren't that easy solo in pve - good in groups but nothing like a vampiir or a heretic for soloing.

If he's going to solo a lot without buffbot

Albion: Friar, Heretic, Sorcerer, Cabalist
Midgard: Bonedancer, Spiritmaster, I used to solo my skald and loved it.
Hibernia: Enchanter, Vampiir, Light/Mana mentalist

You can actually solo with any class really even without a buffbot. Some require more patience than others tho :)

I spot a slight preference for Hibernia, so lets look there a bit: Pet classes will always do very well. If your friend is into casters, why not try a mentalist for example, instead of the obvious enchanter. Btw Enchanters have downtime too because they use lots of power.
Or an Animist. Arboreal seems to be the RvR minded spec, but Verdant is cool if he will play PvE more. Tank shroom with pbaoe.
What about a nature/nurture druid? Special he will be, hmm. yes. Maybe a bit harder to find groups when he's tired of soloing.

Vampiirs. Perfect. You still need fairly good equipment tho but if you can help your friend in kitting out that wont be a problem.

Warden? If you don't go pure rvr leet support spec, but more battlewarden :)
Valewalker. Very nice actually, but a buffbotted valewalker is a lot uberer.
