Regardless of whether it is true for this game or not, I really do not and never will understand the new school WoW-induced idea that ever having to grind in an MMO is the second coming of the anti-Christ. It took me around 1.5 months to ding 50 the first time in Aion and a month the second time. It took me MUCH longer to get level 50 in DAoC. Those two games were, by a distance, the best MMOs I have ever played.
Just look at Rift, everyone complains how shallow the game is and that there is no content. I leveled two 50s, got full gear on both and close to Prestige cap on one before my free 30 days were up. I never resubbed. Same thing with Warhammer, people were RR80 within 6 months of the game going live. RR-capped players didn't appear for a hell of a long time in DAoC, why was that not considered some sort of unasailable an unworthy system as leveling appears to be considered now?
I understand the whole point that PvP ranks taking a long time don't matter because it is more fun than leveling, but still, without some sense of achievement from what you do in an MMO what, after all, is the point of putting any effort into your character?
