ID SMASH THIS PC TO PIECES !!!!!

well i must say i am annoyed i fixed all early problems with pc here, but now i got new ones :/

My pc has 2 new major problems.. and its really annoying ones..

1. Computer is randomly restartings its self, sometimes it just cuts daoc off, puts me on desktop,

2. Whenever i boot up i have no keyboard.. i have to unistall it and reinstall keyboard drivers EVERY (insert muitple swears words here) time i boot up. whats more annoying is i have to add/remove software thing first, or it finds not fault and just dont detect ne thing. Then i uninstall it, then run add/remove hardware again, and its fixed it installs it, second i reboot, ta da, same agian. !

The keyboard is usb one, it was fine for weeks, then starting facking up.

these 2 problems combined is enough to make ne one tear there hair out..

i been running si perfectly for weeks and the problems just started arrising aint changed nothing, so its a sudden fault that aint going away.

I have amd 2400 (running at 2000,even though it ran at 1500 when i got it, its definatly a 2400 got box :p)

windows 2k pro,
512 ddr ram

I get the re-boot and crash to desktop thing a lot, am currently re-installing on a new hard drive (think my one is on the way out). If this doesnt fix it nothing will :(. I have already tried countless driver versions etc.

I am not going to smash my computer but I am going to track down the people who sold me this new GFX card AND KILL EVERY SINGLE LAST MUDDER FUGGIN ONE OF THEIR TECHNICAL SUPPORT STAFF!!

~fucking annoyed~

~really REALLY fucking annoyed~

After reformatting to get rid of the fucking ATI drivers (yes, I did try editing the registry, manualing uninstalling them, blah, blah) I reinstalled Windows, installed the drivers from supplied CD and the damn thing STILL won't work. Its not a temperature problem, its NOT a PSU problem and its not a conflicting driver problem! GRR!! The lazy fuckers have closed shop for the weekend so I can't complain until Monday. Jeezus! GRR!!

I need to drink a nice bottle of ale to calm down...but...but ARRG! Another whole afternoon wasted trying to get this piece of crap to work!

</psychotic rant>

/edit

Oh yea, in regards to your problem...it sounds like it might be something to do with your PSU. I had similar problems before everything went tits up and I was advised that a more powerful PSU would help.

Found my problem, the fan on my gfx card has gone wonky and started hitting the guard. When is has a littl efit it slows right down and the crad overheats so i get either crash to desktop or reboot.

You will only need to upgrade your psu if you are running a low wattage one. For that system you are probably best off with at least 350w, although 400w would be best.

There's also a known issue with Geforce gfx cards and Asus mobo's with a VIA chipset, although the same prob can occur in any combination of gfx/mobo/os but is most common when running Win XP and causes random reboots and keyboard/mouse lockups.

I had this prob and I tried numerous suggested solutions but ended up with a new gfx card, more info here:

if you do a search in the main forum page you'll see loads of threads on this problem and variations of it

Usually, the main cause of this is overheating. Go to a local car parts shop thing, buy a can of compressed air, and spray all the crap out of the base unit, including any fans. If it still continues, get bigger fans/heatsinks etc.

You don't mention your processor, but i would hazard a guess it's an Athlon, as (although they are great chips) they are very prone to overheating.

I would suggest trying out a standard PS2 keyboard, and see if the same thing happens. Sounds like it could be a dodgy USB port. Maybe even try getting another USB device, and see if that needs to be reinstalled all the time.

May not be of much help, but testing other items to see if tis the port or not, is the only logical way of tracing the problem...

fixed keyboard problem, plugging into another usb port. no idea how the other one broke in first place, probaly somthing to do with all the restarts...

These random reboots are not fixed though.....

happened this morning, playing some counterstrike for like 20 minutes. then just rebooted, checked cpu temperature using asus tools, was at 52. according to the guide it has says temperature is fine till 75, and its max temp is 95.

not tried ne thing to fix sinse has been fine a few days. but it did it last ngiht and today. not done ne thing out of ordinary and its getting on me tits :p
