Yesterday someone broke in at my parents' place, stole a notebook, a foto and a video cam, a clock and some jewelery.

I've never seen my parents so shocked and helpless, strangers at their place, touching their stuff. They called the police who took fingerprints and so on.

It looked like a typical raid and seemed to be a case for my parents' housholder's insurance.

But today a neighbour called my mom, saying that there is a suspicious guy across my parents' place, sitting on a bank with friends, shooting random stuff with a video camera.

So my mom and the neighbour hopped into a car (in order to have some cover) and drove by the bank and the guy's camera looked the same from distance. They called the police. Since the thief didn't bother to steal the package of the camera, nor the bill for it (which were both next to the camera yesterday, as it was bought 2 days ago) my mother could provide the serial number of the camera to the police and they checked the fishy man's camera on site: the serial number was the same.

They took him into custody and are searching his place now for the other stolen goods. A police man stated that the guy is a known criminal.

I have to say that I have heard plenty of stories about idiotic thieves, but we Polish can only laugh hard about such idiocy or just cry.

I saw one perp on a TV show once who held up a liquor store and left his drivers licence on the counter. Oh dear.

lmao aw man thats excellant and i hope that now your parents will not feel so helpless and bad about what happened to them that they can actually see the guy getting what he deserves!

that was the worst thing about when we had the break in (all the bloke managed to get away with was a tin of lidl tuna that we used to prop the window open with) was that he was never caught, we were scared for months after that he would come back for us and still are over cautious about security (this was like 2 years ago it happened) it was the feeling of total powerlessness that made it all the more humiliating and painful. And the guy kind of morphed from a vaguely scarey bloke in to a nightmarish monster, now your parents can physically see what a useless waste of space it was that broke in to their house.

i hope the guy who broke in to your parents house gets the book thrown at him for being such an idiot.

When i got burgled, it was a complete failure.

They broke a window to get in, cutting themselves quite badly leaving a fair bit of blood. They attempted to steal a dvd player but left it inside the front door after failing to open it on the way out. Then they tried to lower my laptop out the window by the power cord, it came unplugged and fell to the floor, smashing the battery out. In the end they went out the back door and climbed the wall and got away with nothing.

Police found the guy down the road outside the shop bleeding a bit a drinking a beer. He got arrested, i got a free laptop upgrade. :)

Reminds me of a story from where I live. We had a few series of breaks in here at my Dorm. A friend of mine who lived here worked as security and took a extra shift helping out at the university (not where he usually was, both they hired security from the same security firm), spoke to some of the regulars and found out then when there was a break in at the university, it was usually a specific guy who lived less than 100 feet from our dorm.
So he put 2 and 2 together and when his GF had a break in a week later he went directly over there and knocked on the door, pushed the twat aside and found the computer in there, the guy hadn't yet had time to sell it. Took it and standing very tall, muscular and bald (he looks like a mean motherfucker to say the truth) he explained to the guy that if there was another break in at the dorm, he would come and beat him to death.

Haven't been a single break in out here since... totally awesome...
