It is an big issue, people dying because of poor living situations, no food and discease. Here's an idea to solve it.

Fro each individual in etiopia(or any other country with similar problems), we go ask if they wish to stay there in the poor conditions, or if they wish to come work for food, healthcare and better living situation.

This sounds alot like slavery just because it could be considered just as that.

But consider this, lesser of two evils. Would you rather live free somewhere where you will die because of lack of food or dicease or live a longer(quite so) life by working for someone else?

All comments welcome and opinions are individual.

EDIT: Also, it's not slaving people, it's asking and giving a choice.

might as well just call it what it is, economic slavery.

the US didn't get rid of it, they just outsourced.

The costs of new housing, healthcare, education, skills would make it too inhibitive. You mention just ethiopia as an example, that's 60m people for a start. Where would you propose they live?

On a purely moral note I for one wouldn't want to be held responsible for breaking the universal declaration of human rights.

Sounds similar to immigration to me (which some people don't agree with), but more open to exploitation.

birth control may help.

So these people are starving because there are too many of them? Or perhaps because their country's infrastructure has all too often been badly damaged by war or political strife?

I agree a birth control would help i would shudder to think of the number of children being born every week in Ethipoia.. the question i ask myself is why do the parents do it? they are starving already yet they decide to bring a child into it to? good logic :twak:

Becuase kids take care of their parrents when they get old. thats the way their culture has always been.
They have many kids because not alot survive to adulthood.

And they arnt haveing the kids when they are starving because if you are under nurished you arnt furtile.
They get kids when there is enough to eat, then the next natural disaster/civil war strikes and they starve again

Why doesn't the EU just release the "butter mountains" and the "milk lakes" and all the other foods and resources they have stock-piled in to massive warehouses and just left to rot there?

There are millions and millions of tons of food which could be distributed to these people instead of just left there to rot.

Will they do this? Will they hell!!! and why not? Greed - pure and simple. They would rather see people starve in their millions than see the price of food drop and people's profits cut because they are no longer keeping the prices artificially high by stock-piling food and therefore making it relatively scarce and more expensive.

The whole world is fucked up.

When infant mortality is so high, you need to have a large family to ensure the continuation of your line + what Sibanac said. What you're suggesting isn't really that far away from Hitler's line of thought. Its disgusting tbh, and people should be ashamed to think like that.

There isn't really any such thing. We have a surplus throughout the EU yes, but we need to preserve this for ourselves, in cases of natural disaster.

If the EU would get rid of the subsidies it offers to its farming community, then foreign nations (such as 3rd world countries) would be able to sell their produce to us at a competitive price. This is the real problem. IMO we should stop viewing Africa (as this is where most of the problems occur) as some 'problem to be fixed', and just let them compete with us on fair ground.

Fair ground went down the drain when the US took first slaves to workfor them from Africa.

Didn't say i agree with slavery, the thread is there to bring up discussion.

Slavery cannot be used as an excuse. Decades of civil war are not the direct result of slave trading which legally ended over 150 years ago. Thats like saying the current troubles in NI are the fault of the English parliament inviting a dutchman to depose their catholic king.

Let's put it like this, if your neighbor was starving, would you help him out or would you let him starve to death? Extreme example i know.

I'd help him out of course. What I wouldn't do is offer his Tesco food delivery service another £10 to deliver to my door instead of his.

By the end of 2015 the nuclear war will have come (and gone) and world population will be reduced to 3 billion. Fallout and infrastructure damage will reduce that too I expect.
