Idea to boost BarrysWorld income...

It had crossed my mind too. But BT would profit greatly from such a thing and that HURTS!

Anyway, the plan is to "do BarrysWorld" on a proper, sound financial basis with none of this crazy hand-to-mouth existance thats simply not able to keep up with our growth and expectations.

So, in theory, we'll do it properly and we wont have to rely on the generositity of our user base who've got us this far (phone calls to our dialup)

I wont yak on about "we have plans..." etc etc, as everyone in this business seems to have a master plan that gonna make their business fantastically succesful and themselves stunningly rich and its all rather dull and tedious to listen to.

When we have something real and acheiveable and "happening" I'll let you know.

Well I was relaxing in the bath last night and Eureka! I came up with this half-baked idea for increasing the money going into the BW coffers...

It's been said before that voluntary contributions are a headache to administer etc etc., So what's needed is a simple way for those of us who'd like to give a contribution towards what is the best (IMHO) on-line gaming service in the UK.

So how about setting up a telephone number that charges a premium rate a la 0898? Then we could dial it up listen to a recorded message telling us what good souls we are and the money raised could be added directly to BW dialup income?

An idea would be to set it up so that you get a message warning you of the premium rate and then £1 is charged every 20 seconds on some kind of countdown, you just need to hang-up when you given what you wanted...

I've no idea how simple this is to setup but with hundreds of 0898 numbers out there it must be very straightforward to do?

hmm.. not to bad riz...but wouldnt BT take a hefty chunk of that £1 a min. it would boost their income if we all called it.. but it would increase our phonebills, which i dont wanna be doin ATM

Its less of a major boost to the barrysworld funds but what about merchandise. Theres all sorts of stuff you could do even if you kept those polo shirts as being bw staff only.
