Idea for underpopulated servers

OK ppl please read/discuss and post your flames... err well thought out prose - here :)

Had this idea to help populate some of the less used servers, give ppl the option to BUY a lvl 50 Char direct from Mythic, the sale would be conditional, ie Must already have a lvl 50 char on account (/level data base already does this so not a great deal of work needed)

Secondly cost would vary according to server - the least populated would be the cheapest, full or well populated servers could be higher cost (or not available to buy on)

Currently several services available on the internet to buy tailor made or unspecced lvl 50 toons, this would get more revenue for Mythic and allow ppl to start on a new server without the grind of starting over. /level 30 that they had until recently on Prydwen does not work - tbh 30-50 is the hard part :)

Please post your thoughts (covers eyes) :flame: :wanker:

They could take the idea from FFXI to, that they need something called "World pass" to enter the server they want. If they don't got one they will auto join the server with lowest population(Ofc, they can choose wich language so they won't end up on a french one or so).

normal exping is fine
toa is not, thats what is killing the game, most people won't bother rolling another char now as it takes so long to toa

not to sound all too evul, but the idea pretty much sucks big time.
first off:

if you give people that already have level 50 chars options for getting a second faster, will pretty much kill the game for new comers (the people that dont have chars above 40). whowill they be grouping with when trying to make thier way to 50?

abd secondly... by allowing such and option you pretty much kill teh pve world completly, and as it is now its pretty dead. this will render more or less 90% of the game useless, and kill the enviroment feeling you have in these types of games.

rather remove the /level command completly and give 2x exp on everything. that wasy new players and old players will exp new chars to 50 alot quicker and pretty much hget hooked after like 15levels, since the speed will be faster than in any other games.

If only GOA makes sure to market Catacombs properly then we should see an influx of new players, and those players will find it significantly easier to get into the game than it is now, thanks to catacombs solo friendly and fast/easy pve enviroment plus the free levels etc. ToA for new players that have leveled fast'ish in catacombs wont be that much of a grind, especially with new artifact exp rules.
The key is marketing. Make sure EU catacombs get a full spread in the largest gaming magazines, that its talked about on all large gaming message boards, that its nicely displayed in stores, perhaps with some fullsize card-displays of the new elfmodel etc ^^ If they keep letting WoW and EQ2 get all the spotlights then its no wonder people chose those games.

Thanks for your input ppl - I actually agree - not a gr8 idea - but it was just an idea - I am hoping Catacombs will renew my luv of the game - if not really will be time to move on :)

I only read that, cos thats the only thing that made sense to me.

On topic, the underpopulated servers are already getting extra bonuses on the US servers. Exp Bonus, Money Bonus, Group Bonus etc in PvE.
They need to take care of the real issue though, make scrolls more available, reduce the respawn time on Artifact mobs and totaly remove ML's. (Or atleast make them easier, where am i suposed to get 5fg's to help me do a ML when all my friends are playing WoW? :<)

Its not TOA or NF that is killing DAoC, its the grind associated with them. As said by others, artifacts and MLs are way too hard, especially seeing the numbers of people actually joining raids is getting less and less each time, making it harder to get them done (ML8.10 took over an hour!). While Mythic say they are adressing this, maybe its too little too late, but at the end of the day most of us are still here (except those with no life who have quit and still come here to whinge like idiots).

The underpopulated realm bonus's do squat except raise the price of everything in that realm like scrolls etc. Yes you level faster, not that anyone really notices. New players are not made aware of these bonus's, so the incentive to join those realms is non existant, beside the fact that most new players are here by recomendation of freinds, and therefore are more likely to join them in their realm.

Other than the suggestion of "forcing" new accounts onto the poorer realms, no other bonus will attract anyone. And human nature wont be forced in this way. Lets face it, there is no real solution, no bonus system, no easy button or anything will help.

There isn't really a grind associated with NF...what it did was completely redefine the end-game. Some players like what they did, but entire guilds hate the change, so left for new pastures. So for some people, yes, NF is killing DAoC.

Its been said before, there is no end game in a MMORPG, thats one of the points to this genre of game.
