Ive got 2 pc's sharing a channel bonded internet connection.
Was wondering if it is possible for a person on each machine connected to the internet via ICS to join a game server together?
I thought this may not be possible as IP's for both pc's goin to be seen as the same IP# to the game server due to ICS yeah?

windows 98 se has this feature built-in but there are problems such as firewalls.

Me and my friend tried this in half-life but WON auth wouldn't get through! it IS possible but I dont know. It worked well enough in unreal tho but the pings on one 56K modem just isnt worth it.

if youve got anything faster than 56K go for it!

Guys, if you are connecting to the same server (i.e. the same IP) via the same port (which is pretty likely) then there is no way of machines using ICS to connect, simply because the server organises the clients using their IP's and if two clients have the same IP then it will fall over... plus if both are using the same outgoing port then one will connect (i.e. capture the port) - which will probably be the host machine and the other one will just fail to connect.

Well, to put you all out of your misery...

YES IT DOES WORK!

I was round at rock's last night and we both connected to the same server at the same time, using one connection

Iv done it on my modem with 250 pings.

IT WORKS.

tho i used www.nat32.com

Q2 assigns its own port, look at status on a server and you will see Q2's own Port numbered there.

Anyways, it does work, but the "serving" pc had ics installed in windows setup but i did not use the ics file on the floppy to set up the sharing pc. Just set it up in the internet connection settings to "obtain IP from DHCP Server".
Dunno if that helped :/
