ok I had a virus so I had to reformat, but be4 I did I saved icq2000a to a zip disk, was just wondering will I get my old #back or will I have to get a new 1?

WTF does this have to do with gaming or HL?
Anyway, your ICQ number is a unique account number, why would they give u a new/diff one? Just reload ICq and go to register existing user.

Some of you really are arseholes...

Jester, within your ICQ directory you'll find a directory called db2000. That is the directory that contains all your files that you need (they will be named youruin.something, eg 983729.dat if your number is 983729).

Install ICQ again from scratch. Choose register existing number, and enter in the number and password for your existing ICQ number. It'll authorise you, and start up, but you won't have a contact list. Close ICQ (close the program, don't just disconnect), and copy your backed-up db2000 directory over the new one. Start up ICQ again, and you'll find all your preferences, contacts etc back.

no reason to call us assholes stu, i answered his question just made a commnet that this is a gaming post, dont need icq questions here. Its not exactly the best place to ask icq questions is it?
