ickle hero question

I've got a little lurikeen sword/shield hero at level 48. Just wondering if theres' absolutely any reason to get him to 50 and kited out in artis etc for RvR. I rarely seem to see heroes these days and I definately don't want to go LW/CS. Love my cheeseboard shield too much

Theres a major lack of shield tanks for PvE raids, and ML's but ive no idea about RvR.

Trying to decide what to go for on my next alt as a shield tank.

Hero just doesnt hae enough buttons
Champ has, but speccing shield will never be as good as a hero

Luri will be good for blocking with DEX, but str/con will let her down.

Soooo many choices.

luri can use pierce, which given their high dex makes them as effective in dmg dealing. Problem is their hps.

looking at optimal group setup a champ is > hero, and 1h is completely out of the question.. for pickup groups pretty much anything will work tho i guess, can be a very dedicated bodyguarder. but you can bg while using 2h which makes it kinda useless aswell

Shield hero works very well in rvr imo
I dont know how easy it is to get random groups with hero as i mainly run in guildgroups with him. But guarding a powerfull caster and slaming everything around you makes for a good suport character in rvr for sure.
I have fun with him.

Well my hero is celt and overall i prefer lw hybrid , with 50+15+mob3 and 395 str with lw out u can be a very reliable/hard to slam/kill shieldtank which helps grps in rvr , but when a fight turns u can hit with styles for 700 not even including crits , id say play as u like but would advise speccing pierce/shield atleast .

If u manage to have about 2300hp buffed u should be just as good as any hero , u will have to be a dedicated bg-bot tho if s/s , but that being said the hardest part of playing a hero in rvr is to know ehen to attack and when to take a step back and defend/grapple/bg , so u will be able to just concentrate on the latter.

IMO the day of the hero is almost finished , im hanging up my heros lev 10 malice lw and rolling a bm , time to join the fotm assist train ... choo-choo xD

heros are not dead, yet. I still have fun with mine, but i solo, the fg scene is full of twats atm

i dont think there is much point speccing 50 shield the difference in block rate/slam rate is tiny.

hehe as you can see there are always alot of opinions
And they all work
When i make a character i dont think so much about whats effective and whats not though..i usually do character based on what style/feel/image i want it to be . People think im wierd 24/7 for not using malice....they wonder why i go 50 shield...etc etc. I laugh and say this is how i want it...and it works for me. Chock!
Anyway...use ur imagination. Now you have a few opinions from other people

a good allround spec ive found is....

34blades
20parry

slam then run through opp, use the 3style back chain and enemy dead (well most of the time anyways)

my pve hero will rock luwi 50 shield 49 parry 29 blunt (cough cough defence purpose for blunt!) hits like a paladin tho

Heros roxed while OF was up! they only needed us for bg & slam.... but with nf, champs >>>>>>> heros (St,debuff,slam,(bm or bl)... Etc..... anyway.. Spear is more funny to play than LW my spec is:

50 Cs
42 Shield
39 Blunt
6 Parry

anyway if u wants go ofensive do a champ, and if u want be bg bot, do a champ xDDD

Tho im specces ghey 50 shield 50 blunt atm with stlong passive ras for solo stygia pharm xD

Made 4x golden spear/7x croc tooth/1x gsv/1x nailahs books xD tho and have unreal mau faction from killing the whole setian population ...
