I was wondering

I've got a cable modem and obviously my cable operator gave me a name and a password, but where can I actually view those settings? I can't find anything with a name and password field related to my cable connection. :-/

As far as I know you can't, I'm with telewest and got a username and password and these are used for accessing email and the selfcare functions on Telewest(Blueyonder).....these were given to me in a letter from blueyonder.

So what happens if I wanted to format my system or something? Can't I install my cable modem without them :-/

Yes, mine works as soon as my network card driver is installed.

CM works off MAC addresses so unless you change your network card you'll be fine.
