I need a reminder on double wielding

I know this has been posted before but I can not remember.

Is it better to have a fast left-hand weapon with less dmg and a slower, right hand weapon with more dmg, or the other way around ? And why ?

For Info: I'm a SB, using Sword/LA

KK Trig here is how LA works.

Base Damage is calculated off average weapon speed and dps of each axe. (and spec of LA/Axe but thats not what ur asking so I wont mention that here)

Style damage is applied ONLY to the right hand and is calculated off solely the Righ Hand Weapon Delay.

You swing speed is average speed of both your weapons, main and offhand.

So for maximum style damage you want to use the slowest main hnd weapon. for fastest swing speed you want to use the fastest off hnd weapon.

eg for an axe user the agreed best combo is :

Main Hand = Double Bladed Axe - 4.2 delay
Off Hand = Hand Axe - 2.4 delay

Style damage calculated off 4.2 delay, swing speed off (4.2+2.4)/2 = 3.3.

in effect you are doing 4.2 delay style damage at 3.3 delay swing speed, so you are getting much better damage over time.

Bigger the difference in the weapon speeds, bigger the damage gain over time

I think you must spec in Axe to use a cleaver. So if you are specced axe-left axe it might work, but not for the majority of sword-LA gimps (of which I am one)

Even at RR5 the DB / Hand combo is better than the Cleaver/Hand combo, tests in US have shown this to hold true for even RR5 Zerkers.

You will get lower style damage with a cleaver (4.0 speed to 4.2 speed) and the swing speed is hardly significant : (4.0+2.4)/2 = 3.2.

So you lose some style damage (Style damage is independant of dps of the weapon, only dependant on bonus and delay) to gain some base damage from the extra 0.3dps of the cleaver art RR5 and gain 0.1 secs faster swing.

This is a net loss in damage as tested in US, so DB/HandAxe is still the best combo regardless of your realm rank.
