im looking for a digital camera for <£200
ive been having a look around, and the Pentax Optio looks qutie nice but im sure i can find something with better image quality for the cash, eh?

all ideas welcome

pcg, have you considered 2nd hand? Lots of people selling 3+ Mpixel cameras that originally cost an arm and a leg, for not much moneh.

You can get a fuji S5000 from 7dayshop.com for £189 including delivery.

Sample photos from this camera can be found here.

Although for overall quality I'd say a canon model would be the best bet, will likely only be 3x zoom though for this price point, and the S5000 is 10x.
