Somehow I've managed to wreck notepad. Don't know how though. When I go to edit .ini files - it seems to word wrap things quite a lot, and in effect, when I upload the ini files to the server again - the server doesn't even start because its just word after word.

http://homepage.ntlworld.com/guffrie/images/wtf.JPG < this is what I mean. All I did to the .ini file, was to add "asdasd" at the start as a test. I saved it, closed it and reopened it. Even as .txt I get the same problem.

Is there a way to reinstall notepad or fix the problem without formatting?

Thanks in advance!

this is just a wild stab in the dark but it looks like the .ini file was originally saved on/under a Linux O/S, when you open it up in notepad it automatically gets converted over to DOS formatting, and when its saved, its saved under the same (DOS) format.

use a text editor like UltraEdit, this will allow you to keep the original formatting without screwing up the files.

Have you tried opening the file with Wordpad?

Yeah, WordPad will support Unicode, though Notepad on 2k/XP will, you might be able to choose it in "Save As". Failing that, I'd recommend NoteTab as a replacement
