Pah!

In 20/30 years you'll be 'ooohing' and 'aaaing' (and boring your kids silly), when the 'I Love The 90s' show is aired.

They, in turn, will laugh themselves silly when they see (or hear)....

mobile phones
raves
the spice girls
mountain bikes
garage music
Quake I/II/III
modems/ISDN/ADSL
DVD
any clothes from the era

The appeal of these retro programs isn't in the 'big things', but in the minutae of everyday life. My kids piss themselves when they see photos of me and the missus from the 70s and 80s (but their turn, and yours, will come)

hmmmm, I cant help feeling that computer games will be credited entirely to sony due to pop culture.
It might be nice to think that BT will be lombasted for not giving us geeks uber fast net connections, but they will probably be an item in themselves under "last of the nationalised companies" (not sure when they went private actually, never cared, maybe late 80s.. well, it might feature... my rant is fading out now... groan)...

youre the onl radiohead fan who doesnt pretend that this "experimental" and "inspiring" shit is the best ever.

but still, they're shit, no stage prescence whatsoever.

listen to guns n roses or early manic street preachers

Well, I ain't saying it's shit, but I don't like it as much as their 2nd and 3rd albums...
Saying that, Kid A was the first album to go number one in America since Fat of the Land - Prodigy, thats about 2 years - it's got to say something surely?!

listen to guns n roses or early manic street preachers

Please! American trash, and a band with a guitarist who knows possibly 4 chords, no thanks!

Touché! I think we'll agree to disagree :)

The 90's brought us some of the best things ever!

Britney
S Club 7
And all the other fit girly type singers (I ignore the men in the S Club).

God, have the Manic Street Preachers really gone down hill tho. I used to like them loads, but their new stuff is absolute pants!

Although the D-Day vid was cool.

yeah the new stufff is quite poor, hence me saying "early manics..." - there firt 3 albums rocked, everytihng must go was good, best of the year, but nothing compared to the previous ones (tho design for life was incredible) the latest 2 just arent up to much, incredible lyrics, very talented but just not as exciting as they were

I'm guessing that nuttah who kept cutting himself who left the Manics and dissappeared must have had a bit of tallent? Was it when he went that they started churning out boring music?

REM and Blur seem to have gone the 'experimental' road into weird shite, much like the Manics and Radiohead.

I am/was a HUGE fan of REM and Blur and now I'm really trying to like them. They make it so hard though when their recent albums just... seem... to... drone...

[nostalgia]

Now, the summers of 1994 and 1995! THAT was the time to be alive! Blur had just released Parklife and had dedicated their Brit award to Oasis. Elastica allowed Sleeper to knock out their first album, joined by Echobelly, Menswear, Supergrass, The Bluetones, Cast.

The world was still listening to REM's Automatic For The People (sensibly ignoring their 1995 album, Monster) until Radiohead released The Bends.

And then the V96 festival shone on the horizon...

Yeah, I was there! Best festival I've been to... Apart from maybe Glastonbury '99.
