i'd take a better game overall which is being continuously developed and improved than better gfx any day
they are cartoony because the Warcraft franchise is in those gfx... it always has been, it always will be.

Before wow was crappy because of lack of end game, daoc is now in the same boat simply because there is noone in the end game.
Interserver wars there are now are great imo, i hope they copy daoc's pvp system in the future, then the game would be the best one out there currently. Personally i think they should go one step further and allow players to take towns as their own by killing off all the NPC's bar newbie areas, just add a handicap such as lower cards so players are forced to defend them

Your basing that on one experince of a server, with a high population of children persumably. (some servers are actually quite good - with people who know what they are doing..)

i couldnt care less about Mythic servers...
I play on EU daoc servers, and i play on EU WoW servers.
I compare the 2 services i am getting, the US servers are completely irrelevant to be honest mate.

You also havent played wow rescently, you no longer need to pve to get descent gear the new pvp system allows you to buy on the par gear using tokens. No need to pve at lvl 60 anymore unless you like to.
It was the same in Daoc, to do instances like the dragon or ml10 in small private raids you had to get your char tweaked for pve. Which is why it wasnt publicly announced and the people in it were in it because they were experienced but to a lesser extent simply because daoc pve was not difficult, not challenging and definitely not intelligent.. And trust me i did ALOT of higher level pve in daoc (i blame danord for continuously raising the bar of "what can you solo").
WoW by comparison has very enjoyable in my opinion because it is a challenge, to me the ideal pve would be instances which are different every time you do them, a completely different mob set every time you enter the dungeon to keep you interested.

As for the comment about the players, you can be selective on who you invite seeing as a grp only has 5 slots. The only exception being raids, where there are stupid people in every game im afraid. The thing with wow is all the instances are player limited making them more of a challenge, as a result you cant just blanket kick whole guilds (hi BC ) from a raid and it not make a difference.

You are however right, the game depth is pretty shallow by comparison to the previous warcraft saga which i was pretty disapointed in (the main reason i quit in the first place), saying that so is daoc post-si. But again its being developed as the game age's, something Mythic never really did, and stopped doing altogether after SI

Actually. WoW ain't that "cartoony" when you play it a while. Sure it might look like it "on paper", but like one smart one said, "You have to play it to feel it".

I used to play DAoC, religiously, but honestly, it's boring compared to WoW. It's just, not real enough and tries to be too real. WoW has the balance found out.

Not all players go for the "but this game statistics are like this and the poweroutput is like this and the water is like oooh and the endgame the endgame!!!"

You know? The world is better, much better, then the one in DAoC.

as someone who has played both DAOC and WoW and is now playing neither of them out of boredom for all things computer game related, i can offer my personal unbiased opinion!

DAOC has un-beatable PvP. Running in a regular full group and getting into other 8v8 fights is the most fun i have ever had in a computer game full stop. DAOC PvE on the other hand is a real drag. There were one or two encounters that were fun the first time round, impressive etc, but the repetativeness really brought PvE down, plus Mythics method of just bolting on expansion packs without thinking, and adding to the PvE load without really boosting the PvP just killed off the game for me.

WoW is outstanding for PvE. The engine works so well and the encounters are actually fun to battle through no matter how many times you do them, plus the drop system is pretty good. WoW PvP is some of the worst ive ever come across though, i dont understand where all the fun goes. Blizzard manage to turn a great game into a snooze fest as soon as PvP is involved. Its just grinding over and over with no real challenge, just rewards for spending 12 hours a day in a boring capturetheflag/points scenario. The "exciting" new arena system is even worse.


SO there you have it, as im a PvP junkie, DAOC gets my vote even though WoW is a better made game overall. And because this is way off topic, il add that Timo Mass is cool.

Shame is, I don't even like WoW. I don't like the graphics, the incredible amount of idiots/kiddos, the annoying russians, the leveling up to 60(soon to become 70), the importance of right gear, the fugly gnomes, the silly events and the imbalanced PvP, yet I still am part of the "online sensation". Simply because I can't find any other mmorph worthwhile and there are so many people playing WoW
