I get porn popups at BW

A bit now and then when surfing BW and I click something I get automaticly linked to some porn site and get lots of porn popups if I am not fast to close them.

I have updated my norton antivirus programme and scanned my computer. Didn't find anything.

Got any ideas of what may be wrong?

Hmm lol well its certainly not BW, it's almost definetly something running from your machine that triggers when you visit a site you visit a lot.

A 'friend' of mine has a similar problem when he goes to google, he gets about 3 pop-ups with fairly naked women and the words 'click yes' in big flash letters, and downloady boxes saying 'download this now!!1'

Oddly though this friend does not visit sites of this nature, as unbelievable as that might be. To combat this he now uses yahoo instead.

Only way I can think of getting rid of them is to download one of those programs that kills all pop-ups upon loading.

can only be 99% sure that it some addon program like Gator...which is automatically installed with programs like Kazaa and the DivX PRO Codec...

try running msconfig and check the start tab for mmm...damn, cant remember what they call it there...oh well, look for anything thats not suppose to be there

Download Ad aware from there. It will scan your computer and should find and then allow you to delete any spyware.

Ive been using ad aware for 6months, thi shasnt prevented the pop ups when I visit google though.

Aside from being the best browser ever, it has a built in popup blocker, which kills everything poppy-uppy. (Unless you tell it not to)

I use SpyBot (Search and Destroy) on the recommendation of an exhasperated Luap.

It's rather handy. You can also use it to immunise your PC against some of these things reinstalling.
