I've just had to do a C drive format and total clean install. I backed up what was in my save file in RTCW, along with my config files.
Having reinstalled RTCW I slotted back the saved files, naively thinking that it would work.
Starting the game shows my saves on the load game screen, but when I try to start 1 I get a message saying: not enough space please free up 5mb on the game disk.
I have roughly 34gb of hard drive space, so I guess this isn't the problem.
When I removed the save files the game plays fine, so I did this and started a new game, then quicksaved immediately.
I then simply replaced the quicksave file created with the one in my backup. This did seem to work, I was able to play from where I had last quicksaved before I backed up, sadly the next time I tried to quicksave the game froze for a few seconds then crashed back to the main menu with the same 'free 5mb' message.
What I didn't try was to do a normal save at that point (it had got very late by then) but I don't have much faith in this working.
Does anyone have any other ideas?
Thanks
