After the sucessfull Dragon Hunt the other Sunday where The Rigante obtained a Respec Stone, it has been agreed with my Guild that I am to be one of the first in line to have the great honour of being given the chance to re-train.
I have played 2H for 50 lvls now, and whilst I have enjoyed virtually every minute of it, and love the idea of 2H Paladins, unfortunately I have come to feel that I need a change.
I am NOT saying 2H is gimped overall, but in certain senarios they are....well not effective, due to the poor 2H styles and their "Low" bonus to Hit for the openers.
I do not believe that 2H styles have been thought out well, some are broken in RvR (the stun on the Bone Bruiser/Breaker combo), and due to the slow weapon speed it would be pretty useless any way.
I know there is still the Onslaught and 2 Moons combo, but getting this off in 1 vs 1 RvR is difficult, and in general group battles, they tend to be over to quickly.
If Mythic were to fix the styles and maybe tweak a few of them, perhaps the stiuation would be different...But the chances of this are less that Zero.
In solo PvE and Groups in PvE and Group RvR I have no complaints with 2H, but solo RvR is just a no no...due to the high amount of misses due to the low bonus to hit on opening styles.
To date I have not won a 1 vs 1 fight with any other Ablion/Mid/Hib, expect to fellow 2Hers. I can come very close to winning a few, and at other time I have been utterly spanked even using my FH.
I started a Saracen Paladin and enjoyed having a shield. I have been longing for quite a while to park my butt on the Mid/Hib side of DF and solo a few enemy players, something I could only dream about with 2H spec.
Speccing to S&S will now giving me a greater chance of being sucessful at this.
So about 1am the other night, I finally laid down my 2H Sword, which has served me well, and picked up my new Sword and Shield...
I have not had a chance to try it out much....but I killed a few Racoots, hitting them for about 220 - 250hp per hit on average using Amy Slash and slamming for 340+
Considering my 2H styles would hit for between 280 to 380 on average, depending on style (one low bonus damage and one high bonus damage), I am NOT at all disappointed
Killing red Shredders was very easy with my new spec, I could do it with 2H spec but it was not easy, and alot depended on my Parry and Miss rates. However, with S&S I get good constant hits all the time and block and parry quite a bit...so much that I finished on full health.
I do have some regret in losing some of my individuality, by being one of the few 2H users, but with this re-training I will be more effective for my guild and Albion.
Should the 2H styles be fixed, I've got no doubt that I'll roll another 2H Pala
Cheers
