Hype surrounding Half Life 2

Ok, so its the best looking game I've seen, its the only game thats really got me excited but -

I've visited 30 different HL2 sites and the ovewhelming feeling I get is that its been well over-hyped.

For example HL2 central have a countdown to the 30th of september, it gives days, hours, minutes and seconds.

Do people have nothing better to do ?

It IS hyped - but it IS Half life 2.

How old is Half life 1? And were still playing it. That explains the hype.

However there is of course always the chance that it will be a let down. The moment you start a new game....and you have to hit a headcrab with a crowbar...it might just seem a bit old.

On the other hand, it might just be the best game since half life :)

I got deus ex yesterday in 3 for £10 at GAME. Never played it before, its fun :)

The fact is, Half-Life 2 it self will probalby be pants online.
Soon as you have done the single player, if they're is no Team Fortress 2, but only Half-Life DM, its going to be rather poor for a while, untill some mods get released..

Unless they make Half-Life 2 Muti-Player something legendary.
As when i first got half-life, them many years ago, they had Half-Life deathmatch, was rather poor, and team fortress, that was sweet back in the day.

They've given the HL2 SDK to certain people (i.e. DoD team) so there should be some mods coming out soon after the HL2 release.

There is no official HL2 site as yet (please feel free to correct me here).

Having looked at some of the unofficial sites, it looks like theres going to be no shortage of HL2 mods.

Yes it probably will be the best game of 2003 and yes it will be more popular than HL has been but really -

DON'T BELIEVE THE HYPE.
