HP CD drivers stuff

I recently bought a new PC... was wanting to move my CD writer across from the old one to the new one, but I can't find the drivers anywhere

It's a HP CD writer plus 9100 series....

I can't even download the installation software from HP's website... need to "order" it? I mean, wtf? How hard can it be? Tried google, tried lots of others....

I "think" I have the actual drivers, but I can't install them, since I don't have the magic HP software on my pc :(

any ideas?

If it's a recent OS you shouldn't need drivers.

I just put my cdr in my new pc, installed Nero and was up and running.

We have a couple of those at work Silver - PM me and I'll get the driver software to you if you want.

Even under Win2k you need the driver disk for these drives - the generic USB drivers don't work.

Are you sure the 9100 is USB?

Anyway, drivers for them are here. (you need to register on site though)

As said, you shouldn't need to dl drivers for the drive, it should just work.....you will need some software though which is offered for DL from that address, or you could use Nero etc.

yeah, I have nero lying around somewhere, otherwise there's plenty of non HP products to use.... because of what I remember, the HP software sucked :)

Still, it's nice for vendors to offer Firmware updates for their products (So you can keep your devices' drivers up-to-date.). I mean, it's at least that they can do after you just purchased their product. Plextor is offers both Firmware and Software updates frequently all downloadable on their website. If HP doesn't have driver/software updates availble, for free, they can just crap themselves :)
