When I goto the console (`) and enter a cheat command all I get is "cheats are not enabled on this server". Is there a way to start cheat mode in single player mode?

Use /devmap command to change map, then add bots if necessary. Cheats should now be on.
If you want to cheat in the "single player game" (as opposed to just kicking around with bots) .. erm .. dunno, but wtf Cheat at a single player game anyway??
