Despite the current economic downturn, my lack of ability and motivation and the company I work for lurching from disaster to disaster like a sex addict at a herpes convention I have been gifted a moderate (not earth-shattering) payrise.

Added to my 40 hours or so of overtime last month and a nice little expense claim, I reckon at the end of this month I'll have about £1000 in my pocket and I'm wondering what to do with it. Since I'm shite at making decision and OT seems like an oasis of rationality and common-sense in the desert of idiocy that is the internet, I figured I'd ask you guys to help me out!

Crowdsourcing: the end of personal responsibility and the start of a more fun (and possibly girlfriend-free!) existence :D

I don't have "whores" as one of my poll options (it would win I'm pretty sure!) but I'll certainly bear it in mind :D

Boring option, if you have a grand on plastic, you've already spent the money.

id go with the safe option, ie clear the credit card.
however!
you could clear it, and then buy yourself something nice, or a holiday...on said credit card ? :D

Wipe the debt. The feeling of being debt free > having £1000 in your hand.

(I only started to feel that way turning 30, when I was 21 i'd not have given two flying fucks about being in debt)

you could pay off debts, open a stocks & shares ISA, save for a rainy day, etc

or

go on holiday

stuff like computers, dvds, games are all very nice, but they're just, well, things. Don't get too attached to things. They don't last. Go on holiday. Build up your memories portfolio.

New PC can give you nice memories too :p

All personal really, b ut a new PC is not a waste of money. Unless you're upgrading from 5% to 6% then it's pointless hifi-assery.

Seriously though; Booze and wimmins *nod*
