How to play VCD?

Not sure if this is the right forum to ask in but here goes. I got a vcd from a m8 and i don't know how to play it!. When you explore the disc through My Computer it shows 6 folders of which only 1 of them has any files in it, in that folder there is 1 file that is a .dat file. Anyone know how i can play this file, what software do i need. Any help appreciated.

Hold the Left Shift Key, and right mouse click that .dat file, then in the Drop Down Menu, select "open with" and look through the Programs for Media Player (Mpeg2?), and just select open, voila

or just start a software based dvd player an press play
