For those of you who havent virtualised;
1) Download Firefox 3.5
2) When you are about to browse a dodgey site like
BahuDeebsOneCup.com
go to
Tools > Start Private Browsing
3) Go to said dodgey site and browse away

This will scrap any cookies and cached things after you close the browser session

I hate when others use my computer! I don't have anything to hide(lol), but just the fact that someone else is using my computer makes me feel weird.. Every time someone else is using my computer I always look over their shoulder even if they just need to check email or facebook

Can't help it

I don't really trust google chrome just yet, it is still prone to buffer overflows in certain cituations (although the Java Virtualisation is pretty nifty)

Opera is still not quite there, i have certain sites which simply dont work on it but its getting there

FF and IE its really personal preference, they are pretty much as secure as each other

If you are using FF to browse shadey sites it may be worth your while downloading NoScript
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/722
Will stop Active Content being run on sites except the ones you allow

You'd put IE and Firefox ahead of Chrome?

I know Chrome hasn't been perfect, but I'd rate it higher than Firefox/IE. The auto updates which prevent idiots from avoiding patches is an especially good idea.

Chrome still suffers from the buffer overun problem so is realively easy to exploit, the Java iscolation isn't quite there
Auto Updates are all well and good, but thats user error not the fault of the browser

Firefox and IE with all the correct security features are much as secure as each other

@MYstIC G elaborate
We are way past the days when there was a IE exploit every week....
Unless you conciously allow things (which is not the browsers fault) they are about the same,
in a corporate enviroment or a techie user IE pulls ahead because of the Zone security and the sheer amount of customizability straight out of the box
For the average punter who doesn't want to configure things to their preference FF with NoScript is probably the better bet

If you have any real reason for your little outburst other than living in the past, i would be genuinely interested to hear why you think one is worse than the other

They really aren't on a par. You can start with Active X for one, because unless you're stupid enough to install support for it in Firefox, that's one less problem.

Please do explain what you can customise so well in IE out of the box that you can't do with firefox?

Oh and Marc, yes. I took ages making it all go diagonal and shit.

My own user does have a password, but it's not that they are on my user.. It's that they are sitting in my chair, using my computer and not knowing what they're doing or what they might find of weird pictures etc...

And you have to accept most, if not all activeX objects in IE, by default you can't 'just run it'.
So back to my previous point, unless you consciously allow things it is no different (ignoring it is completely trivial to disable, and customization i will elaborate on below)

Please do explain what you can customise so well in IE out of the box that you can't do with firefox?
Firstly i didn't say you couldn't customise FF 'as well' in general, what i did say was

in a corporate enviroment or a techie user IE pulls ahead because of the Zone security and the sheer amount of customizability straight out of the box
While the default profiles are a load of pish, you can customise rules for networks, so if you want to allow all your internal traffic uninhibitted or want to set certain rules for it, you can. A prime example is trusted network sources, on a intranet you want to allow them to be run with no message prompt every time you click it because its a network source (quick launch bar, My Documents etc...)

You can set zones for certain sites, i.e. trusted/restricted based on how you want to control them independant of your settings for your normal zones

Firefox on the other hand you have one setting for everything (at least as far as i can tell)
