Servers are down so another newb question.

As I go up in my axe and defence skills, do you have a certian number of skillpoints that you use?

I am planning going full shield/axe but I'd like some 2hander skills aswell. How far would I be able to raise my 2 hander if I cap the axe/shield ability?

Regards Ballock

As far as i know you can buy all the skills your wallet allows you.
After lvl 10 you get talent points though. 1 for each lvl .. you can use those in a skill tree similar to Diablo 2. You will only have like 50ish of these points so be sure to use them wisely.

Thank you for the answer.

So in other words you can cap all weaponsskills? Shield, 1h axe and 2h axe aswell as the swordlines?
And all moves work with all weapons? Kinda boring if it is like that.

It is, dont think its, boring, just an easy way of changing your char abit, since there are no different weapon styles, just different class styles.

Why is it boring?

Try to think out of the Daoc-box for a little while.

Oh and please, try not to use "?!?!?!?!!?!" - it's highly annoying :)

Each weapon type has an inbuilt advantage. Frex, axes crit more often, and maces have a chance of stunning whatever you are hitting. (Not sure what swords and daggers do, but it must be something.)

I only played a priest, but for priests, this is how it works:

You can use maces, daggers and wands.
As you use them, you become better at hitting targets, and your damage goes up to the max the weapon allows.

You have 3 spec lines - Holy, Discipline, and Shadow.
You can get all the abilities in the 3 lines, if you have the money. In DAOC terms, consider them baseline spells, but you need to buy them

Then you have Talents, that do various things. For a priest anyway, you can generate less threat, get resistance to stun, fear and charm, increase range, increase damage, increase chance of critical heals, decrease casting time for various spells and a host of other things. You can either specialise, and get the most powerful abilities in a Talent tree, or you can spread your abilities out, to be a jack of all trades. A Priest with the Holy Talent Tree maxed will be A LOT better at healing that someone who has specced Shadow.

Conchabar, WOW rocks. The PvE is good, there's little grinding, lots of questing, and PvP is a good rush. All classes are viable for PvP, and there's no real "gimped" classes.

druids are gimped :p
but i love them :)

they arent gimped imo its just those blizzard whiners that expenct the animal
forms to be as good as their real class counterpart, wich wouldnt make sense at all.
They are still good for things bear for dmg aborb, cat for stealth and insta mount.
oi and lets not forget imune to polymorph while in animal form.

the only thing druids could need is a pure statbuff and maybe improove the faerie fire debuff a bit.

druids gimped? my druid rocked :D

fought a lvl 17 hunter at lvl 16 and killed him, bear mode for the win :D

not only are druids not a bad class (i love the flexibility, can heal, cast dmg spells or morph and tank abit :) ) but they are damn good fun too :p

and i think the easy switching between weapons is great, was staff until lvl 12 on my druid, simply spoke to a weaponsmaster and got myself 2 handed mace ability, spent 10-15 minutes whacking things and voila, i had myself a decent weaponskill, much better than the fiddling around you have to do in daoc in my opinion

however wow seems much more geared towards casual play (at least at lower levels), in the sense that you can level pretty fast solo, you dont NEED to take the time to find a group to be able to level

the crafting system is again, pretty neat, always bothered me in daoc having to sit for hours to be able to craft anything over level 20, in WoW you have to gather materials yourself, so not only do you get your crafting skill up, you also get xp from killing the monsters to get to the resources (especially when doing leatherworking + skinning)

Hey Mr. Luminous twoll ^^ looking forward to WoW eh? :p

About the skills (dunno if it's been written already.. cba to read everything):

You gain skills in weapontypes as you use them in combat. Everytime you reach a lvl up, your skill cap will increase. (Don't remember if it's 5 pts or 10 pts per lvl, but something like that)

At certain weaponmasters you can buy new weapontypes which work like this:
When you speak with the npc, you're given a more or less broad selection of weaponchoices which you can chose to learn. In the beginning they cost 10c or 10s, so that wont ruin you, but as you lvl more you'll get new (and perhaps better?) choices of weapons which will of course cost more to learn. Once you learn a new weaponskill (and yes you can max all weaponskills which is really sweet because it provides tons of versaility in combat (sp?) (or variety.. just trying to sound smart:p)) you need to max the new skill(s) as well through combat.

About talents, all classes gets 3 pages of individual talent sheets. Meaning that warrior has access to class unique talents that other classes wont get, but on the other hand the other classes will get their own talents that fits the class. Talents can be chosen to improve your character in a specific direction, or you can chose them to get better overall. Talents are gained from lvl 10 and at every lvl thereafter.

WoW is indeed a very interesting game, and just like Ormo I love the crafting system, that's similar to the crafting system in EQ in the way that you need to go out and gather/kill mobs to get the materials you need, thus giving xp + tradeskill components as you run around.

Not to mention they can brake most CC by shapeshifting.

I have a Druid in the 30's and he rocks, but i have heard that 40+ they start to get weaker than there counterparts.

Hehe I feel the same way.. hope they open up EU beta soon so we can play some more until they finish EU retail :)

Was seriously thinking about playing US, but from earlier experience with playing US EQ server (bad raid times etc) and the fact that I heard no EU players will be allowed on US servers I think it's just better to wait :)

Looking very much forward to it though... hope they get it ready soon.
