Can anyone tell me how my pc/quake2 should be set up for optimal performance when playin online with quake2?

Ive got win98se, diamond supra 56epro modem (V90 drivers and flashed).

PC settings - modem speed set at 115200, buffers at full, no compression, com1 port set at 115200.

Quake2 - rate 3000, cl_maxfps 33.

Mouse @ 200hz (smooth in single player, but not as smooth online?)

Would really like to get my mouse look as good as in single player so i can kick some ass with me railgun! hehe.

Any advice/tips much appreciated,

Rockhard

hmmmm...u should turn network packet size to either auto or small..and under same heading turn off IPX Header compression, turn on point to point IP...and u say ur using com port 1...so in your system.ini (next to 386[Enh]) file u could add
Com1Irq4Buffer=1024
which gives your modem access to some physical mem in times of high modem activity.
Also in dial-up properties make sure u untick log on to network, NetBeui, IPX/SPX.
And also that u have flow control set to hardware.
Then in Q2 u can turn on gl_ztrick, turn off gl_polyblend and gl_dynamic and a few 1000 other things.....

Don't forget to hassle BT to increase the gain on your line. BT should make sure that u get a stable gain of 4. However knowing BT this might take 1 or 2 phone calls. Dial 150 and tell them u want u're gain increased NOW!
Its well worth it, and your paying BT for your line anyway so get the most out of it.

Sorry m8, I don't know a thing about localtel.

Check out your current connection speed at http://www.computingcentral.com/topics/bandwidth/speedtest50.asp Its a good site and should be able to provide you with some interesting information.
