Hi all quick question, if i may.

How does the aquisition of skills and spells work?

is it like DAOC you get so many skill points per level to spend?

Do you get skills and spells automatically as you level?

do you select paths, or are all the spells etc open to you?

Thanks in advance :)

You buy your normal skills with money, then you get talent points each level after 10, which allows you to specialize in three different trees according to your class. These talent points can give you + to your crit chance, or a completely new abillity like silence, kinda nifty.

as above - if you have the money you get access to all spells available at that particular level.

The specialisation at the moment lies with talents.

For example at lvl 41 my base spells are the same as any 41 priest (assuming we have all bought them). However, I may have 'specced' in shadow or discipline or holy magic. This doesn't usually give more spells (though it can do) it normally enhances a particular line of the base spells.

Would just like to add this:

Buy your frigging spells!

Grouped up with my Paladin with other Paladins a few weeks ago, and when asking them to run a certain aura and cast certain blessings (wisdom in this case) they replied:

"Don't have it."

Neglecting vital spells will only get you kicked out of groups quite rapidly. (not having a vital level 14 spell at level 16 is usually frowned upon, not having it at 20 is just silly).

I have about 10 spells still to buy as a 41 priest - stuff like improved dispel magic/improved rezz etc. The ones I have neglected are not do or die stuff and certainly don't affect my ability to solo.

Most people prioritize cash for a mount at 40. The cash is rolling in now and I expect to buy the remaining spells next time around.

Anyway, what I am trying to say is Whisperess yes you are right to a point, but not all spells are necessary. No idea about palys as since I'm Horde I just read <target>
