Depending on what you wanted from an OS, Win2k was the mut's nuts. It sucked for gaming but for "serious stuff" (before MS unified their 2 OS families) it was second to none.

Does he have a nosy GF? Grab his phone, change your name on his phone to "Monica" or other such female name(preferably someone the aformentioned GF kows), then send texts in the middle of the night(or whenever she's around but yiur mate is taking a dump or some such) saying nauhgty stuff.

Win2k was a brilliant OS, and it was fine for gaming.

I seem to remember needing to have Win ME (shudder) in a dual boot to play a lot of games that wouldn't run in 2k.

Must have bee me then, had a rebuild done at the time and the guy put it on there saying how great it was, I seemed to just have no end of problems with it. Changed it to XP about 6 months later
