I'd suggest using a ewe, rather than a ram.. at least to start with. Procedure is same for both, harness round the neck pull tightly and enter from the rear. Good quality lubricant should always be used of course. Good luck!

If you had played Midgard Excalibur I could have given you a quick run down in game, it is very simple and I shudder at the thought that people actually find siegecrafting complicated.

You need 2 Swing harness, 1 Ram beak, 1 Ram cladding and 300 Ironwood.

Move up to the door, make sure you can hit the door in meele and build ram.
Aim ram
Arm ram (wait for delay, iirc 5 sec)
Fire ram
Arm ram (wait for delay, iirc 5 sec)
Fire ram
etc.

If you find your ram "can't reach door" this might be a bug. I've found that sometimes, if you release control (/control release) and hit the door in meele and take control again (target ram and /control) you might fix the bug.

BTW - I also recomend using macros to control the ram, it is much faster and easier then the sluggish graphical interface that pops up.

just make macro's for
/control
/aim
/arm
/fire

they've improved the window actually :) the bars no longer lie...

trebuchets are just about controllable ;)

For rams, the controller window works fine now. There's still an advantage to having quickbar macros for /arm and /fire, though - you can use the keyboard. 1,2,1,2,1,2,1,2,1,2 - ah, we're in. :D

the catapults are fairly complicated...

never had opportunity to use a ballista.

catapults don't need LOS which makes them good for keep defence...

can you fire a ballista from the keep walls? or is there minimum ranges etc?

<snip>

Wouldn't call them complicated - one just need to remember to not place ammo in the catapult weapon before you need to use it.
Sometimes (always?) it bugs up ammo dropped in the weapon.
Something about "wrong ammo slot" or whatever.

I'm not sure on minimum range, tho I could test it on the Salisbury Plain. (would be fun actually :) )
and since they need los, I suspect a keepwall would be difficult.

we set one up in Caledon to defend the mid bridge, while taking the keep back when Caledon was still used, and BG's where still fun. the one troll that came past our PK defenses got knocked out of his boots in a single bolt...

fixed :)

now need to place it in the thing, click on the ammo, /load it in, then start firing :)
(after aiming and arming of course)

And if you're not used to ground targetting it takes a bit to get it set up.

That said, can't be that hard - even Cheradenine managed to work it out ;)

(I lent him my spare treb at beno :))

ahh is siege master only little rams/onagers etc?

Never understood the point in the little uns... they're no lighter to carry... bit cheaper but still a pain in the arse to make anywhere other than a merchant keep :)
