I connected to sam.barrysworld.com:2791 last night , and I don't think anybody was in there so I got dis-connected, so how can I find a server with players inside?
To see if players are playing you need a game browser such as pingtool or gamespy. I have both gamespy (regular) and gamespy arcade but pingtool is good (tricky to master initially). Of these I would get Gamespy arcade if you are unfamiliar with this type of software. www.gamespy.com...you can use shareware or register it for full functionality ($20.00-lifetime) . This will give you access to all multiplayer games it supports and allow you to use predefined filters for mods such as rocket arena. Arcade has recognised pretty much all the games i have currently on my HD including some very new games like Opperation flashpoint and independence 2 "edge of chaos"
and will certainly recognise old titles like quake3 half life, quake 2 etc
Once you click a filter it will display all the servers together with whos playing/empty servers.
Your disconnection is probably the fact that your quake3 dosnt have the right maps installed (assuming it wasnt a patch problem). Either enable downloading maps under options or find the map and dl it from outside of the game (faster)
