Why is it so absurdly expensive to live in London? I mean 200 quid per week for a dorm room?

because loads of people want to live in london

depends where you're looking

if you want to live in a crime-ridden shite hole like Harlesden, or a run down area like Walthamstow, or an estate area (pick anywhere in SE17), you'll get something more affordable

if you want to live in Onslow Square SW3, you could easily pay £4m for just a flat.

location, location, location

Rent will be high because mortgages are big, because property prices are high. Also demand is high.

Also if you are paying £200 a week for a room

1) You are being ripped off

2) You are trying to live in far to nice an area for a student.

The gf pays £600 per month for a dorm room, bills included and 2 meals a day, in a nice area and i thought that was expensive. £200 a week!?

I saw one of those southern 'commuter types' on the telly,
nice chap. moaning about being stuck on some '5:30 to Smithers common' or something like that, seems he was stuck for eight hours, because the
signal man saw a picture of a snowman.
Then he showed his season ticket, 3500 quid to have the lifeblood
sucked out of you everyday sat next to thousands of other people too depressed to communicate or make eye contact in case they press the detonator.

I'm happy up north.

would never commute to london .. as you say too much paid for too little service and then you have to get up like 3hours before you start work .. rewards not worth it

londons crap and even those in the south know it :p

Unless you live in the center and walk 5 mins to work :p

I do love London centre, though , I go all Harry Potter and run round the attractions and sure enough, you can't get anywhere more at the centre of life
but it's like a trip to Disneyland, after two days I'm pissed off with the crowds, the prices, queues and the most miserable ass people you'll ever meet.

£1000pcm would get you a nice two bedroom flat to share so £500 each - £200 per week is nuts.

I live in SW6, but I don't look down on anyone :p

i have a quite different feel to that. I cant understand how people can stan suburbs or countryside, it drive me crazy just having to visit my dad. I wouldnt live any other place than right in the city, even tho its expensive.

Don't worry I'm sure someone will rent you out a cupboard for £4,000 a month in London lol.
