Hot water substitutes

The hot water has stopped coming from the hot tap.

As a non-plumber, this confuses and frightens me :( Since we're all doing alot of phys at the moment, we need something to clean with and such. Now me and my room have begun a noble quest to search for a decent substitute to use instead of hot water!

Sadly none of us are very imaginative, so the best options so far are cold water (lol, no way!) and milk, also cold :(

Bacon of course was my first suggestion, but as I have no way of turning my bacon rashers into liquid-bacon, I don't think that will work this time :(

Someone suggested mustard, but theres no way I'm letting anyone near my sacred stash of mustard at the back of the fridge in a million years! What would I use on my dippy bread with soup if they used that?!

So, if anyone knows of a decent thing to use that is like hot water but isn't hot water, please let me know via an answer on a postcard.

Any help much appreciated!

Get yourself a volcano stove, 3 pints of boiled water very quickly. Plus you get a cool jet engine effect come out the top.

I use one for camping, really quick to get a brew on.

For cleaning get some alcohol soap.

1) Fill glass with water
2) Put glass in microwave oven
3) 5 minutes
4) Take glass out of oven
5) Pour over head whilst smiling that you found a new found source of hot water

White Vinegar always great as a cleaning solution, shifts most dirt and grime and limescale.

Alcohol hand gel is good for cleaning ones hands with no hot water

However if you apply it enough times without washing your hands a bacteria layer begins to grow *under* the layer of gel on your hands (according to my friends mother who is a nurse).

I knew my OCD would come in useful.

Oh and Dukat I have taken up archery, sadly I shoot with recurve rather than longbow so I guess im a hibbie traitor now :D

Hope all is well in the army.

Haha tell your instructors that recurve is gimped, longbow is the way to go! :) Also, watch him incase he starts eating tofu or organic cabbage or something, if so take him out and get the arrr pees! :D

All going well apart from the damned hot water is off in our block! just came in from a run and had to do the ice-cold shower thing for a second time today. I cried like a little girl! :(

Suck it up you girl! The number of times I've required a cold shower over the last few months, I suspect this is karma getting you back!!

Can't you fill a tube half way with cold water then boil some water in kettles and saucepans and fill the other half in with boiled water?

Forget my earlier post, thought you were talking about cleaning in the house, not yourself.

Reminds me of when i lived in Costa Rica. We had access to water, but no hot water though. Instead we had a long black garden hose curled up on the roof which provided us with hot water for showers during daytime.

What is it with useless UK microwaves, you can boil water in a kettle in 5 minutes :p

A manly solution ofcourse is to set up a firesource next to the tap so it heats up the water while it pours out :D

That's how another thing works too, relief of pain stopping, S&M. You should look into that since you're inclined ;)
