I'm having probs hosting voice comms. When i first selected to host it popped up a window in zone alarm, i gave it incoming and outgoing rights. I was still getting requests on port 37000 being blocked so allowed udp access through that port both oncoming and outgoing. The messages stopped but i still get can't connect error in game? Any ideas why?

as of yet all I have heard of it is that it sucks, me I use Teamspeak instead, its free and u can put the server on another machine (and put some load of ure own comp).

Back to youre problem, possibly u need to open TCP traffic too or maybe youre IDS (Intrusion Detection System is triggering)

I have set up a teamspeak server which runs on a spare pc for my outfit which is OK but it's just a hell of a lot easier to do it in game and it's nice to have the flashing boxes when someone talks. Have been in voice comms with someone else as host and it's not that bad at all to be honest.

The in-game voice coms is so bad. Very quiet, you can hardly hear the peeps on the other end.

Besides that, who wants to listen to some snotty 10 year old saying "Where are you?" every five fucking seconds.

"Check the fucking map!" I say each time.

TeamSpeak (used it with DAOC, a guildy had it running constantly, wish he'd come to Planetside, HINT HINT DAN!) is the canines favourite bits to lick.

Easy to use, audible and with different rooms. So you could set a room up for each continent if you liked (you'd have to find the keys to map to it though, and that would be a task what with the million other keys used in PS)

I'm thinking of setting up a server myself, just need a really crappy cheap computer.

When the in game one has worked it's been pretty good, not sure why yours isn't working. There wasn't a huge difference between a stand alone team speak server or the in game voice comms. 90% of the time im with my outfit or friends of my outift so no little kids to worry about and i generally won't use voice comms in a pick up group.

Blimey if that's true, that's knocked me for six.
Pity you can't do much with it.
Still, Teamspeak is more flexible And more sociable by it's nature.

Double click your ZA icon

Change the settings tab to low

Voice will now work fine, at least that fixed it for me.

One of our members has acces to some major bandwidth so we're gonna be running a teamspeak server instead now as our outfit is getting a bit bigger. Thx anyway :).
