Lo folks, I'm after a bit of real estate on the ol' interweb and wondering what el mega cheapo deals you chaps have got your mits on over the past, perhaps one of you works for nominet and can boot who ever owns www.chilly.co.uk off and put me in!

Or maybe you know a decent hosting company who offer basic services for http, ftp for decent prices :)

Iv got a couple in mind already for starters my current ISP offers a nice looking package with a free uk domain thrown in for a fiver a month and 2gb traffic pcm.

Anyone know of anything better than that?

I use http://www.virtualnames.co.uk. It'll cost you 8.50 for a .uk domain for 2 years, and another 20 quid + VAT per year will get you 50mb worth of webspace and 2.5gb transfer per month.

Been with them for a couple of years now, and been quite happy with their level of support as well.

I've been with Burton Hosting for quite some time now and they've never steered me wrong. Cheap and lots of features. Think I went for the £40.00 a year deal, with another £5 on top to park another domain.

Webmania for me, £20/year, 500MB space, forget how much traffic (2gig maybe?), unlimited subdomains, unlimited pop3 mailboxes, mysql, phpMyAdmin, php, perl - blah blah blah.

Not had any real issues (couple small downtimes) but for £20 a year I can't grumble.

That webmania package looks great - I seem to be paying about 3 times that for less space/email etc. Time for a change.

I use webmania, they are great.. however their SMTP servers seem a little dodgy so you will prolly need to use your ISP's Smtp for email :)

Kevin - if your offering that send me a PM, looks to be a very good deal for £48/year +- VAT as I dont know how youd be charging, but id certainly be interested.

That webmania looks bloody ace also for the price - dont give a shit about email, iv got enough bloody accounts as it is.

I would prefer a UK server for general peace of mind and lower pings, but if theres a seriously sweet deal based in the states or otehrwise (EU is fine as well i spose) id certsainly consider it.

Looking good so far chaps, thanks for the help, any more?

/edit - webmania appear to offer 6gb a month - very good compared to many places.

http://www.dreamhost.com/
Promotional code - 777

2400MB space
120GB bandwidth
Free domain registration
Other stuff
$9.99 for the year

If I had a Visa card, or if my mum was in the country, I would probably go for it myself.

You'll get what you pay for.

I was a webmania customer quite a while ago, however they weren't that reliable. It's fine if you want something cheap, but you may get a little bit of downtime.

Heh yeah sorry. This company is really good apparently, and for $10 I would gamble on them if they weren't. Chilly, go for the cheapest hosting deal. Keep going as if you are going to order it, complete the details etc, then it will ask for the promo code somewhere near the end, before you have to enter your card details.

I signed up with them over 2 weeks ago and my account is still "awaiting approval". I'll email them when I cba to cancel... I have some space with ukhost4u, it was pretty unstable during the summer, but has been fine since. Will probably renew with them as they offer a good package for £30/year.

i've used ukhost4u for just under a year now, although i've had a couple of issues, the support has been top notch, quick responses and a load of different ways to get in touch with them.

I am with hosting unlimited ( http://www.hosting-unlimited.net ) on their Elite package... However I brought it via an ebay deal so it costs me £17.95 a year! Not bad for 2 gig space, 15 gig bandwidth a month and unlimited everything else!
