Hello folks, it was brought up in another thread so I thought I'd make an introductary thread about Hostile Intent so you don't have to do anything as tiring as reading other sites.
Hostile Intent is a Counter-Terrorist -v- Terrorist themed total convertion on Half Life, nothing like Counter Strike. The maps are amazing, the models are amazing, it really looks stunning when you consider that the game it's based on is 4 years old.
To give you a brief description, the game uses ironsight weapon models, like you're actually using the weapon model to aim instead of a crosshair, click the thumbnails below for the full-size pic.
The weapons are pretty standard for most games along this theme, the M4, M16, MP5, PSG-1, AK etc, the list goes on, in-game you will only have to hit someone 3 times max before he hits the deck, most of the time 1 or 2 will do the job. The game has lots and lots of nice new features, terrorist spawn at random points, dynamic lighting and a fully functional particle system which can render chunks of concrete, brick or mud, whenever you shoot a wall etc. The particle system also creates a functioning weather system, it snows, it rains, it's great.
You can check out these two small avi's to illustrate this better.
Rain demo (You might need to brighten your settings a bit for this one)
Snow demo.
Erm, where next, hmm, the maps. They have a lot of great maps including ones set on a submarine, an airport, an embassy, an oilrig, the desert and the jungle. I know what you're probably thinking, so does/did counter-strike, but they don't look nearly as good as the versions Hostile Intent will offer. Check out the thumbnails below.
