Horses for (shorter) courses

Erm, until recently i've been a lowly pauper in DAoC, but recently i've got to the higher(ish) levels and find I have more moula to throw around ......... so I bought a ticket to a town a little past my desired destination and jumped on a horse. The thing is, I assumed that if I wanted to jump off before the journey was due to end, I could. Am I wrong? I couldn't find a way to jump off early.

Also, I now have enough combat, magic and other 'special' abilities, that the 'quick bar' thingy is full up, so I put some on the second bar. I know I can 'shift-2' or 'shift-1' to go between 'quick bars', but is there an easier way I can do this? To access some things I need relatively quickly, I have to 'shift-2', then press the corresponding key to use the 'ability'.

thanks

That's the quickest way, yes.

Organising your skills & spells onto your quickbars in such a way as to minimise the need for swapping quickbars in any given situation is hard work :p

omg JUMP! I can't believe I overlooked that! Thanks :)

How do I remove icons from the 'quick bar' btw ?

Also, I stupidly spoke to one of these skills masters and clicked 'yes', so I am now a trainee weapon maker. Thing is, I wasn't aware what this would do and now realise I had a choice between making armour, arrows, weapons, etc. Now I've picked, am I stuck with that decision? I dunno if id have picked a different one given the choice again, but I havent really thought (or read) about it.
Are there decent guides about on how to learn to make things and get better? Is it a worthwhile method of getting new stuff, or is it more of a nice way to get exp up?

Thanks again

You are stuck with armourcrafting as your primary skill now, yeah. You can still learn armourcrafting, fletching and tailoring but only to 75% of you weaponcrafting level.

That's OK though 'cos weaponcrafting is a good one to learn :)

You don't get any XP for tradeskilling, just money (if you do tasks and/or sell to players) and yes it's a very good way of getting good quality equipment for you and your friends, at least until level 40+ or so when item drops from mobs are generally better than crafted gear. Weapons & armour bought from merchants is expensive and max quality 85%. Player-made gear is quality 90%+ (and often considerably higher) and cheaper.

There's a great page here all about tradeskills.

Crafted gear is largely useless above level 30 due to the much larger number of drops introduced by 1.45. That is until we get the new materials and spellcrafting then it should make a comeback :)

Dannyn, you're wrong :)
When you get higher, you'll see what it means to have a weapon that has 96% Qua and is enchanted ;)
Beats a drop anytime. Though the weapons you get from your highlvl epics are better.

Actually, "/dismount" is the correct way to get off a horse ;)

after the patch what i will want at level 50 in rvr is most likely a crafted guarded rapier from the 10th level materials asap, because the will be very good. add into that spellcrafting and you are onto a winner :)

Drops at 40+ aren't always that great :)

Hollowman and Worn Mortification actually give less AF than Adamantium and Asterite with a 93% qual

Midnight IS better but personally, Ive never seen any :/

The bonuses are better on drops, so the sooner Spellcrafting is enabled the better

Hufner - lack of high level materials and spellcrafting gimps it up for crafted. Personally I'd rather have a dropped weapon than some asterite crafted thing. With current materials, you're going to be limited by either the material or the quality above level 40 anyway (except a few quest items), better to have a dropped sword with a proc and bonuses...
Once we can enchant a proc onto an arcanium crafted weapon... that's going to be some serious killing gear :D

And of course, without good crafters you can say good-bye to siege weapons when going on large RvR hunts such as keep attacks or relics raids.

So don't spit on crafting too much :)

As said above, /dismount is the correct command to jump off a horse, but the shorter version /mount will also do the trick.

Is it just me who finds it amusing that you can type /mount to get off a horse :p

Use control as your jump key cus you press most other buttons when you are chatting.
