Just saw on the old Beeb's news (Sadly it wasn't our Hugh, today), about this new game, entitled "Hooligans in Europe". Players get the chance to rampage through football stadiums and throw chairs at football players and supporters. I'd like to think that i've got an open mind with these sort of things and I don't find games in the 'controversial area' offensive, normally. But, this just seems a step too far with game developers striving for innovation in a very competitive market. No doubt they're rubbing their hands tonight with the amount of publicity the game's getting, which is sure to spike their sales.
It just seems daft to me, I fail to see the entertainment value in such a game and it seems to be in a totally different league to other controversial titles, such as GTA. I just think we've got a fairly sizable llama population in the country at the moment, why we need to encourage this 'yob culture' further into the mainstream is beyond me.
This is bound to get into the argument of whether a game does encourage people to do it in real life, can they seperate it etc.
Oh, they put an 18 certificate on it though, phew, our killywinks won't be getting hold of it then...
