Homeworld 2

Anyone downloaded the demo?

I've been playing for about an hour and I'd assess it thus:

Looks much better than the first one - not revolutionary but definately a lot better - and with LOTS on screen at once (which happens at the end of the first mission) it doesn't chug a bit on my PC (which, admittedly, is a ninja-bastard but hey-ho).

Gameplay looks to be very similar - not a bad thing but I hope that later in the game the mission variety and ship/tactical changes are much improved.

BUGGY.

I've had one crash to desktop and one complete system reboot. Way to go Sierra - that'll get the punters buying. (Remember Tribes2?).

Why do they think that releasing an obviously buggy demo will help them sell the game. - I was all set for buying this but two catastrophic bugs in less than an hour has put me right off - until they patch like madmen....

....how long before it's due out??

Erm

1) It's a demo.

2) Me and several of my mates have had no problems what so ever.

3) Expect alot more in the full game then is in the demo.

Lol - nice to see that Game is using Homeworld 1 screenies to sell the game :)

And D - yes - it's a demo - but if the game is stable so the demo should be too????

Experience tells me that if a demo of a very soon to be released game is buggy then the game will be too.

And it makes no difference if you had no problems - on two of the 3 PC's I've tried it on I've had crashes now :(

But it does look good :great:

Well I have played the Single Player part through 3 times and played multiple Player vs CPU and haven't had any crashes, even when I pressed the Win key

In that case it makes no difference if you HAVE had crashes as the 4 or 5 i have seen it on don't have any problems.

I can also alt-tab/win key instantly.

Jeesus. People always get jumped on when they've had problems and other people haven't.

All I'm saying is that I'm having problems with it.

Getting uppity and saying "well I haven't" in a sort of implying-that-I'm-talking-shit kinda way doesn't really help.

I'm not slating the fucking thing - I'm just saying that I reckon that it's buggier than most things. Considering everything else on all my PC's is rock-solid (save Tribes2) :)

Damn right. If you posted saying that you'd broken your leg anyone caught saying "Oh really? My leg is fine...." deserves a good slap.

Anyway my homeworld 2 works fine but you aren't missing a whole lot because it isn't much fun.

Same goes for blaming that broken leg on the dog that you fell over and not yourself for not looking where you were going.

Oh btw Scouse. Those are Homeworld2 screenshots on the GAME page. Here's a comparision.

GAME - http://shop.game.net/gallery.aspx?cat=10373&Index=320973&Image=1
3D Gamers from their Homeworld 2 page - http://www.3dgamers.com/screenshots/games/homeworld2/44.html

And yes the demo is great. Sorry to hear you're having problems running the demo, however, as it seems that the majority of people here are running fine, myself included, did it ever occur to you that the problem could be caused by something other than the demo?

Isn't this a homeworld 1 shot?? I'm pretty sure it is.

But yeah, the rest are HW2 :)

Anyway - it's not my PC or its configuration that's the issue. As I said - everything else is rock solid. And it's not spec's either - XP Pro, 2800 Athlon, Gig of Ram, 400 Gig HDD Space, 9700 Pro sat on an nforce2 MB, all the latest drivers etc..... (a nice Alienware jobby I picked up for a little under 3 grand a few months ago) :)

And I took deadmanwalking's inference spot on it seems - when he posted this:

Same goes for blaming that broken leg on the dog that you fell over and not yourself for not looking where you were going.

it was quite obvious he was inferring that perhaps it was my fault - not the demos.....

Anyway - it does look like fun and I'll prolly get it - but not until it's been out for a while and has had a few patches.....

My spec comp is very similar to that just slightly better gfx card. And like i said no problems, you have to be the first person i have knows who has had problems :(

Blame the dog! :D

I'll say it looks good and feels very nice to play. I really hope they'll make different voices for units in the final release.

The voices are fine and quite good as they are atm i think.

Battle Chatter to high or whatever it's highest setting is and then a few wings of interceptors and bombers. :D

What they should do however, is have the cockpit view that they included in Cataclysm, now that was cool.

Just had a play on this, did the missions. I wasn't that impressed. It was slow, aimless and lacked reward for me. Just more of the same. I wanted to like it.
