I got a free p120 from a friend's work, as they were getting a new network in. It has a network card with 3 connections, one of them is an RJ45. My other (main) computer doesn't have a network card. I want to link the 2 computers to swap over a few files and play old games like Quake1 and C&C(Old due to the P120). Should I keep the old card?

What new card & cables should I buy to link the 2 2gether 2 play games?
Thanks very much.

What ya need m8, is another ethernet card to go into your machine, and if you are using the BNC network connections (the bit that looks a little like a tv areil socket) (advised), then use a straight bnc cable, two bnc 50ohm terminators (one for each end)
and a T peice
the network card you buy should have a t peice in it, possible a termniator to. That should do the job nicely.

Then again you may want two T-Pieces.

But i would advise getting a 3com OEM 3c905 card (£30), and buying an RJ-45 Crossover cable.

you can pick these up from any *good* PC retailer or reseller.

abt 10 quid fer a 5 metre.

or u could just buy them both from Choice (Insight)
www.insight.com/uk

actually, buy 2 of those network cards.. then you get 100mbps.
*worth it*

the p120 *should* have PCI.

if u need any help. post here or just go to: www.lanparty.co.uk

very helpfull fer newbies.

True - the RJ45 is a lot better, but as Dapea said, a little more expensive - if ya got the cash go for it m8

Im pretty dam sure the p120 has pci slots innit (i have never seen socket5/7 without - but saying that, if its a 486 upgrade evergreen jobbeh

)
Go for the 100mbps - i saw both in action and is well worth the extra m00lah

I have.

Dell and Digital have made up to 133's with no PCI.

On Scan's 'today only' page ( http://www.scan.co.uk ) they've got a Terra SoHo network kit (3 TBase10 Combo PCI NICs, cabling and an 8 port Hub) for £38+VAT

I've got no idea how good / bad these things are, but you gotta admit that's pretty damn cheap.
