No surprise at all. After all they wouldn't want airports to HAVE to extend runways, when many may not have the space to do so, to have the thing use them. It just wouldn't make economic sense.

If it can use any airport (on this criterion) that a 747 can use then that's automatically a buttload of routes it can be used on and thus a lot of potential customers.

Oh and someone needs to go look up 'Bernoulli Effect' for how any plane gets off the ground .
